The original post hasn't been edited in a while so I don't know if it is still up to date, but do people still recommend the LG W2363D-PF? I just purchased one because it is one of the cheaper 120hz monitors and had good reviews and I found it on here recommended. Seems like a good product at a good price.

Just got it, 120hz 27" Asus. I'll let you guys know how it is, it's the one closer to my tower.

I'll try to update it tonight. The Asus 144Hz monitor especially needs to be added.

I'm thinking of buying that Asus 144Hz. Unfortunately, I'm still on an old-ass HD 4870 - would the 144hz mode even WORK on my card?

I think they only require DVI-D ports.

i've never used either benq monitor, but i can tell you i can feel the input lag difference on my VG248QE compared to my CRT and it's not that bad.

Been using 3x Asus VG236H for about a year now. I bought 1 for full price on newegg, and got the other 2 on ebay for 180/200$ respectively. Awesome screens for the price. I'm pretty sure they are discontinued? Not sure, but if you are looking for a good priced 120hz screen I'd recommend these.

hmm i was on yesterday and im confused. i have the asus vg248qe and its set at 144hz off the monitor settings, and i have -freq 144 in launch options, someone told me that tf2 doesnt even recognize 144, it will automatically drop to 120hz. should i just change -freq 144 to 120 than?

-refresh <rate> or -refreshrate <rate> or -freq <rate>- Force a specific refresh rate. Ex: -refresh 60

I suppose

I see the ASUS VG248QE has some pretty good reviews......is there any noticeable input lag on this one?

Also it's pretty widely known that there is a significant change in going from 60hz to 120hz. Is there an even bigger change from going from 60 - 144 or is there not much difference between 120 and 144?

Would there be any noticable difference between a 120hz monitor (like the VG248QE) and a 85hz 17" CRT (SyncMaster 763mb)?

matterteais the Acer 120 hz a "lightboost2 monitor"?

It's 3D Vision 2 tech you should be looking for if you want lightboost. The Acer is from the first generation of 3D monitors so it doesn't have it.

ukmits not vsync its just the application (driver?) starting in 3d mode
the tweak is based round forcing the monitor into 3d mode when the game is just running normally, seems like the hack doesnt always work correctly that way and TF2 will launch in 3d mode which caps frames at 60, then if you ctrl-T back to 2d from there it is capped at 120. This mode also fucks up input lag fiercely (at least for me).]

There's a solution:
http://www.blurbusters.com/zero-motion-blur/lightboost/

TIP: Improving Convenience, Stability & Eliminating “Control+T”:
First, verify LightBoost is working by verifying for reduced motion blur, and Step 4 was already followed. Next, you can make LightBoost “stick” by going to nVidia Control Panel and disabling the “Enable Stereoscopic 3D” checkbox (see Step 8 above). If the screen did not flicker when doing this, LightBoost is still enabled even after disabling 3D!
- Games launch in 2D without needing Control+T
- Driver stability is improved in this mode, less freezing occurs.
- VSYNC OFF now works much more reliably, reducing input lag.
(Note: Some games may automatically switch resolutions; make sure it stays at 120 Hz)

Cro0Ked_is there any possibility of hardware damage when using that lightboost hack?

No. It's a built-in feature of the monitor normally used for 3D but apparently useful for 2D. LED's have no wear-and-tear during switched operation.

Would the Asus VE248H be a recommended monitor? Because it is pretty cheap and I have heard good things about it.

put it this way, it's like upgrading your computer (and not just the monitor its self) it'll make TF2 and any other game as well feel incredibly smooth. it's a very noticeable difference. also from what i've seen these aren't overpriced either because when you pay for quality it will last a long time.

The point is that it's a much smoother screen in comparison to a 60hz monitor. I'm also going tho assume you haven't seen them in person yet. You'd see right away the difference.
