Made a TF2 6v6 logo/possible T-shirt design, critiques?

Cool concept. I assume you'd lift the artwork from in-game models? The sketch is an awesome proof of design but I think it'd look way better using actual game art.

Left side seems too busy when comparing to the right. Try to balance the right side a bit by changing sticky trajectory or changing location or amount of the uber stream. Just my two cents.

Thank you Mr. Owl, yes I would be using similar models/shapes of the objects in the game. And buckweet, I changed the logo up to be a bit more balanced, along with changing the bat to a "boston basher".

I don't think you're going to fit four or five weapons successfully into one "6." The idea of repping 6v6 somehow is intriguing, but it needs to follow the simplicity and elegance of the class icons themselves.

Yeah you could put some of the weapons on the other 6 or even the V perhaps. Not sure if the sniper crosshair needs to be there which would give the 6 a more defined shape by making it thicker. I really like the sticky how it is though.

the modern trend for logo's seems to be minimalistic, compare any big company's logo to the logo they used 20 years ago. This is a huge improvement but i feel like it still needs to be way simpler.

try shrinking the sticky bomb and removing the sniper theme, i think that would make it more simple, plus sniper is an off class.

The issue with using actual game art is it's straight-up theft.

On the design: I don't understand why you decided to incorporate the Sniper's patch. It makes sense if you consider it's a common off-class but not when you're trying to create something simple and relevant.

I would say to remove the smoke trail behind the rocket, and replace the heal beam with one of the Medic's weapons, such as the Medigun or Kritzkrieg, or even the Ubersaw.

Something else to consider is choosing the primary weapons of each class (excluding the Medic) and use those to represent them for the sake of consistency.

edit: the beam should be that curve you have going into the sticky bomb...then somehow incorporate the sticky bomb into the old position where the medic beam is now

Okay, so, I tried to rearrange what you had going on to get something with a less cluttered look, but I decided it would be hard to do such and maintain an appealing design.

In my opinion something more easily legible is the way to go, and this is what I came up with:

The projectiles aren't combined into a neat little symbol, but I tried to keep the feel of what you had going on, or at least communicate the same thing. The digits are Trajan Pro in bold, and the V is a lowercase in Market Deco.

My advice would be to try to find vectors of the killfeed weapons, and somehow incorporate those. People who play TF2 see those all the time so they've almost got brand recognition already.

duno how easy it would be from a compositional standpoint though

I'm liking this thread. I really liked the original draft, probably because it was on a white background and easy to see, but maybe the second draft looks too much like the insomnia logo. I bet that there is another way to make itself balanced. Similar directions of either weapons or effects would make it work (e.g. the quake 3 logo on a tilt), but I wouldn't be able to do that kind of thing well.
Other thoughts: The sticky bomb on your paper draft has an mostly transparent body and visible spikes, that's actually kinda cool. Seems like it would work well in a team logo.

This is partially off-topic, but I like to imagine a future design will include some of these ideas.
Edible ideas:
-I would love a design that had a rocket with wings! Airshots are pretty much the blue shell of TF2. Maybe even a sticky bomb, even though that just isn't the same.
-A rocket/sticky bomb with a stream of medigun/kritz particles.

Trying to make an obfuscated number 6 out of random tf2 things is not going to look great, and I don't even see the appeal of a shirt that just says "6v6".

And although I can see the appeal of a tf.tv shirt, didn't enigma say he was looking to pick someone up to make a new logo? The current one would be kinda bland on a shirt.

Just way too much happening in what you're trying to fit into a small space, like Zephyr said think minimalistic aka Nike with their check symbol. I think the word "symbol" plays huge in what you're trying to accomplish.

I've gotten several excellent critiques and i will be posting approximatly 8 different concept sketches of which I would love likes/dislikes.

I did consider a 6 v 6 with only 1 class in each 6 design, but I wanted to do a broad logo that captures most of 6's together.

I WILL be taking out the sniper scope, to those people who really have an issue with it, but the main reason I added it was to give shape to the 6 without using the copyrighted TF2 logo.
