Easy TF2 Crosshairs

While fucking around with some HUD stuff, I decided I was going to split my Crosshairs up in such a way that I'd be able to easily transfer them from one HUD to another. Using #base, I created this, which in turn can go from one HUD to any with just a few lines of code. Nothing fancy, really.

https://github.com/omnibombulator/Easy-TF2-Crosshairs/

There's a full readme included which dumbs it down fairly well for those who haven't got the foggiest, but for most others who have a slight understanding of HUDs, you should hopefully find this useful.

Feedback would be appreciated, maybe help me word my guide better if it's shit. I'm bad at writing.

ChangelogV1.0.2

More Crosshairs!
• Broesel's Crosshairs
• ToonHUD Crosshairs
• Whahay's Crosshairs (YaHUD)

Customization Changes
• Crosshair Size, Crosshair Outline and Crosshair Blur now supported by specific font names. No more restarting for Crosshair Size changes!
• Separated fragile code further away from code you'll actually want to change.

Other Stuff
• Fixed errors within the README. Also updated the README in general to reflect recent changes.
• Changed where the Crosshairs folder needs to go. You'll now need to put the folder into the resource folder. All mentions of directories within files have been changed to reflect these changes.

Why only include one size by default? This requires the user to relaunch the game every time they want to test a new size, when using hud_reloadscheme is enough of a hassle already.

If you want to make a more 'universal' crosshair pack, I'd probably also include some HUD crosshairs (e.g. pilot) and the Quake .vtf crosshairs.

font crosshairs are inferior to vtf crosshairs

what we really need to is easy to install vtf xhairs

First iteration. I'm already planning on changing that.

this guy gets it
e: preferably though, tf2 could implement more - and better - inbuilt crosshairs. can't be hard to just copy paste the csgo code with some quick changes.

Could easily do that, but I'm not including the vtf's because fuck that noise.

Hey, I remembered this was a thing and made some much needed changes.

ChangelogMore Crosshairs!
• Broesel's Crosshairs
• ToonHUD Crosshairs
• Whahay's Crosshairs (YaHUD)

Customization Changes
• Crosshair Size, Crosshair Outline and Crosshair Blur now supported by specific font names. No more restarting for Crosshair Size changes!

Other Stuff
• Fixed errors within the README. Also updated the README in general to reflect recent changes.
• Changed where the Crosshairs folder needs to go. You'll now need to put the folder into the resource folder. All mentions of directories within files have been changed to reflect these changes.

That's pretty much it! The only thing this is currently missing from the current state is a Broesel's Crosshairs preview image. Everything else is done for the time being.

Will probably look into making an easy-to-install .vtf crosshairs system as well in the future. Depends how much time I want to sink into it.

You can find it here.

Hey Omni, thanks a lot for making and updating this.

I was wondering though: How could I make the crosshairs go into HudPlayerClass instead of HudLayout?

I use HudPlayerClass for my crosshairs so that way it doesn't stay on in a freezecam/scoreboard/team select/etc.

Is it just a matter of changing the #base location and putting it in HudPlayerClass? Or is there more to it? Because I tried to change the directories of the files and putting the things from HudLayout into HudPlayerClass and it wouldn't show up.

You can just include the #base stuff that is supposed to go into hudlayout.res and put it into hudplayerclass.res.

If it doesn't work, remove "/resource" from the file paths of the #base includes and see if that helps.

If that doesn't work, let me know and I'll try it out myself later.

These are great and super easy to install into a hud. Worth a sticky. Wish I knew about them sooner.
