I'm not entirely sure how to act as a team leader. I've been on some decent teams but I never really paid attention to how the team leader operated and I'm getting a little overwhelmed with all this team stuff. I also don't entirely know what to look for when trying out new players besides how good their comms are, how they fit in personality wise with the team, and if they stick around after scrims to talk about what happened in it or what they could improve on. I need advice

Do you already have a set of players that you're leading and you need tips for it or are you looking to start a team and be ready for it?

I already have most of the players I need. I have a few more tryouts before it is set.

Well you were pretty spot on with what to look for in tryouts. There's only so much a tryout can show of a person so one of the most important things to take into account is how well they fit into the general personality of the team. Make sure there's rarely any disputes and you will generally not have any problems in losing players or something. Other than that, make sure you know when people can scrim and that you have scrims ready for those times. If you feel overwhelmed by scrim scheduling as well as leading the team in general, ask a teammate if they're willing to take on the scrim scheduling while you lead the team. Also as leader, it's primarily your job to keep the general morale up and keeping everybody up to date with what's going on. If you don't already have one, a steam group is good for this.

usually before starting a team you have to have a foundation for the team (core members that you plan on building around) and to get this foundation you have to know people.
