Low carb diet

People mentioned protein bars, so I was reminded of the time I did low carb diet for 3 months. Basically a low carb diet, is supposed to force your body after two days of being carb less to use fat as a source of energy (overtly) simplistic. and you do that after a desired amount of time and then you stop if you feel like it. I drank alot of caffeine free diet cola to feed my sweet craving and I avoided sugar, your blood sugar stabilizes after being in this kind of transition. I had a few strawberries, but mostly ate meat and vegtables and used sugar free powdered drink mix and would drink 4 cups a day. Help yourself to alot of butter and olive oil and drench it on your fried chichen wings (without breading of course). I remember eating alot of chicken thighs and broccoli, and occasionally eating hollandaise sauce with my eggs (which is butter emulsified with egg yolk and lemon juice to give it a zest). Also help yourself to cooking a roast chicken. As a result of following this ritual supported by science and people doing this for years since the early 1900s, I lost almost 40 pounds and in normal weight now going from 187 to 149 at lowest, but now fluctuating between 149-152. 1 Drink almond milk instead of regular by the way because of carbs, and keep carb consumption under 50grams, less is better. my asian folks gave me alot of flack for not eating my rice, and told i'll die if I don't have carbs, but i'm still here and alive.

Starving yourself to get thinner is a bad idea. Carbs are not the enemy. An unhealthy diet and lack of exercise is the enemy.

I lost 52kg being on a ketogenic diet and starting to work out/ lifting . Whilst carbs aren´t the enemy we consume way too much of them on a daily basis considering they are in literally every product you would "normally" eat. Being abit more aware of what you eat and regulating your carb intake can´t harm .I would want to emphasise the point that I had my best results in weight loss and getting more muscular when I combined my diet with heavy excersising - I don´t see the point in only dieting for years.

edit: but whats the point of your post ? :D

A lot of people just say "carbs" as if they all are the same thing. They're very different, and their affect on ones health also depends on which food you eat it in.

For example eating an apple (with SUGAR. SCARY CARBS) is not considered unhealthy and it is a lot harder to get fat by eating 10 apples aday compared to the the same weight of chips. Fibres are carbs and they are one of the many reasons why eating fruit doesn't make u fat easily. Eating bad foods like sugary soda where the only carbs are sugar is a bad idea for health, teeth, loosing weight etc.

Also it's generally not about eating more/less carbs that is the problem, how many calories you eat compared to your activity. Someone who's not very active and for instance drinks 2 litres of coke every day will likely gain a lot of weight compared to if he was exercising. If you eat an abundance of calories you're gonna gain weight wether you mostly eat fat, carbs or protein.

That is very true. I came to realize that all that really matters is just that you control your cal intake. I also think that a keto diet just helps people to come "clean" in the sense of really having to let go of all those sugary things like soda. It forces a bit of dicipline on you and you can take it on from there! I had people in my gym doing keto diets in which they don´t consume things like tomatos or apples as they have a lot of natural sugar - I think thats completely besides the point of the diet and just stupid.

Overall keto just helped me personally to change my mindset towards nutrition and to became more aware of what I eat. If anyone plans to lose weight I would also suggest to contact your doctor - there is no shame in that and it helped me greatly in getting in progress fast. Just have someone that knows his shit watch you diet and work out otherwise you can get lost in tons of diets and tipps&tricks on the internet

don't buy into misinformation that will only make you feel worse and less healthy in the long run.starving yourself and only eating extremely specific food groups is not the way to go, and as many have said before you should most certainly exercise and watch your calories first and foremost.that's it.
obviously this includes avoiding bad fats (ones you'd find in fries and whoppers) and simple sugars(your bepis and gamer sodas) and generally just being conscious about nutrition.you can still have a tasty lunch that won't make you shit blood if you steam broccoli or some other veggies and then slap some seasoned chicken breast in an olive oil-coated pan.hell, go for some fine baked pasta with a low-fat sauce once in a while, not working out is always going to be the one big factor in poor health, no matter what your weight and muscle gain goals are.
also, there's not just one type of carbs.

diets are overrated

exercise is where it's at

lost 30 pounds without changing food habits, but by exercising.

went from 165 to 135 (5,8) around 11-13% BF.

run half marathon in 1:42 last month :)

just wanna make sure that everyone knows that a no-(bad)-carb diet is literally the same as starving your body, only you dont feel hungry because your stomach is full of other stuff. your brain runs on glucose and glucose alone. the best way to lose weight is just to exercise, not to mention you get muscles too.

Yes, your brain runs on glucose, but there are other ways for the body to produce glucose. There is a process called gluconeogenesis that takes place in the liver. It converts proteins/amino acids to glucose for your body to use. This takes place in every person, not just those who are on a ketogenic diet. You get plenty of protein on a keto diet - therefore you have plenty of glucose.

Low carb diets can definitely be useful, especially for people with type 2 diabetes and pre-diabetes. Don't spread misinformation on a topic just because you don't like it.

dont eat things with added sugar for some months and get outside each day

you could look at the nutritional information thing and see if theres a high amount of any of the like 60 fucking names for sugar or you could just eat this everyday

for those of you posting "ive gone from x weight to y weight" doesnt really say much. bf % is more specific to the reader

#12 diets are overrated once you go below 20% bf as a guy. from there focus on body recomp exercises aka build muscle lose weight at the same time. ppl often prefer bulking and cutting cuz ppl think body recomp is a myth but its not, just rly hard and slow to do (but worth it).

for obese people keto is quite useful

also if ur average weight but looking to shed fat keep ur carb balanced with other macros
