I've had my Sennheiser CX 200 for quite a long time (around 3 years), but for the past year they've been slowly dying. The main issue was the weak contact between them and my phone I'm listening to music on. I've had them repaired once in september, but now I feel like it's better to get a new pair.
If you guys have any earbuds with good sound and a durable plug in mind, let me know.

I don't know your price range, but check out the RHA MA750. I own a pair and they are definitely the tankiest earbuds I've ever seen.

Unless you absolutely baby your earbud/iem wire, it will always malfunction. These wires are always very thin, and the joint between the jack and wire is never that sturdy.

Your best bet is to either accept the fact that your earbuds/iems are going to go bad every year or so, and buy earbuds/iems that fit this budget, or to get earbuds/iems with a detachable cable, so that when the time comes you can just buy a new cable for $5 rather than a whole new set of earbuds/iems.

For a detachable earphone, look at something like the shure se215

also all RHA products come with a 3 year warranty so at least that much is guaranteed

I use a pair of MEElectronics M6 Pro for on the go listening. They feature detachable cables like the Shure SE215's, but are much cheaper (at least where I'm situated). That and they come with a shitton of stuff, like another set of cables, comply foam tips, and whatnot.

my apple earbuds from when i got my first ipod touch 2nd gen still works but i think the mic died after about 2 years

the ones from my iphone 4s still works, the grey rubber rings on the earbuds themselves have fallen off and the mic broke a month before i got my 6 (2.5 years ish?)

the ones from my iphone 6 work but the little rubber circle under the part that goes in ur ear is getting super torn up, it still works well but i think one side is louder than the other now but the shape feels nice and it still pretty much works perfectly, mic works

Panasonic RP-HJE125, they're like 7€ or something but they are REALLY durable
I've had mines for 3 years at least - they've been drowning in the toilet, left on the showering rain and they still work like a charm
And the sound quality is really fucking good especially for their price

I bought these and had them shipped from Hong Kong and they don't sound spectacular (compared to a couple $100 pairs I've owned, although not horrible), and they cut in and out often while walking

really? :/ that sucks man I guess it must've been a detective pair or something because mine have been incredible (to me, anyway, I'm not a hardcore audiophile) and ive never had any trouble with them cutting out or anything

Had xiaomi pistons(2nd edition) for over a year now, and no issues at all. They don't take much of a beating from me, but the regular cable bending at the joint when in pocket thing happens often enough and they still work fine.

tetrominoxiaomi pistons are the worst earbuds i've owned

The xiaomi piston is the Overwatch of IED's. It's a really well put together product and has a lot of hype but the user experience kind of sucks imo.

I literally found a pair of earbuds on the ground outside my dorm that sound better than the xiaomi's I spent 20 bucks on. The pistons also cant be worn while running/walking because the earbud cord picks up any sort of vibration (i.e. hitting your body). They are also uncomfortable for me to wear for long periods of time but that might be a personal thing. Other than that they look really nice and don't break easily from what I've experienced.
