Looking to buy a webcam, mostly for streaming and the odd skype call

http://www.pccasegear.com/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=3

Was going to get one from here since I am buying another zalman mic from them (streamin mic since my snowball is fucking obnoxious), but probably a bit more to spend than I'd like on a cam. Unless you guys think one of these is super value for like $50.

logitech makes really good webcams. I have a C270 and its really good, got it for $30 a while back. The page you linked has a C920 but its a pretty bad deal for it.

on a side note, I went to amazon.co.au to check out the prices of webcams and maybe link a few good deals but they only sell books. wtf how do you guys live. my poor Aussie boys smh -_-

Cheapest I've seen the cam for in AU currently is $82.

And yeah, we all books down here in Aus :(

edit: Seen that some shops in decent driving distance have a c270 available. You'd think go for that?

Can confirm, also have the c270 and paid like 20€ for it, pretty sick deal. It's one of their cheaper models but it does the job just perfect imo, if you want a bit more quality go for the c310.

yukiCheapest I've seen the cam for in AU currently is $82.

Logitech lists that cam for $50 Canadian, given that the Canadian minimum wage for the most part is about 2/3 that of Australia's, and 82 * 2/3 is just over $50, then that is what the list price should actually be. If you can find it for much under $80 Australian dollars then you won't be paying too much I don't think.

Disclaimer: I have no idea how currency works so if this doesn't make sense please correct me. I'm interested in knowing too.

I wasn't necessarily saying whether it was more expensive here or not, but was more responding to proto's; "The page you linked has a c920 but has a pretty bad deal for it".

Thanks for the replies so far, all!

if you want some SUPER AWESOME video quality for a web cam, buy a refurbished t2i dslr from canon, it shoots the same HD quality video as a canon 7d and you can get it for like 200 - 300 bucks. its amazing.

Yeah sorry meight probably only looking to spend a max of $80AUD. This is not something that I'd like to spend too much money on; would prefer to use that other money elsewhere.

Thank you for your reply, though!

if you have an older android smartphone you can use it as a webcam w. droidcam, typically 1-2 generation old hardware still has impressive video quality like the galaxy s2-s3, HTC one etc

when i said older smartphone i meant like a spare one you could use as a full time webcam

i literally would just stick mine on like a stack of textbooks, you could buy like a phone tripod cheapo thing off amazon it would probably be fine

If its just for streaming/a bit of web chat and not 1080p youtube vids the microsoft lifecam 3000 is excellent for the price. I've used one for like 4 years now
