Pretty interesting. Hopefully there's a way to remove input lag for those of us who play in borderless windows.

yeah, i read another article saying pretty much the same thing. But i still haven't understood if this means that i'll have w10 for free for 1 year or if i have 1 year of time to upgrade my w7 to w10.

I hope the second option, since I still have Win7 on my PC for a special occasion like this one

It's confirmed the 2nd option afaik. I would do it but don't know enough about windows 10 and gaming. I imagine it'll require a tonne of patches etc at first as well.

Dyde1 of 2 windows are shit, we go directly to windows 10, were is the 9 ?

because some programs check the versions of windows by checking for "windows 9" (as in 95/98), microsoft skipped over it and went straight to 10.

w 8.1 is perfectly fine, as good as w7 performance-wise, and with faster loadings and apparently less memory required. Windows 10 will surely be rough as it comes out, but i guess in a bunch of months will be as good as w8.1 and prolly better

How does tf2 handle on windows 10? The new package manager it's rumored to have is why I would upgrade. The only thing holding me back is whether or not bblean would run on windows 10.

i know someone from microsoft, they said that if you upgrade within the 1st year of launch, you get windows 10 for free permanently, and supported to the end of the OS, similar to the way Mac has OS upgrades (The 2nd option) :D

I also have that input lag when I play with a borderless window, why is it?

So long as Windows 10 does not have an issue with updating which will cause an update to hang, and corrupt your boot file and then require DOS commands to retrieve which files of yours you can onto a USB drive, I'm down.

Windows 8 killed my previous computer (a laptop) that way. I'm still salty almost a year later.

It's desktop composition. It forces v-sync, presumably so the animations look good no matter what. This is good for most people, but terrible for gamers since it removes the choice between vsync and no vsync (and now G-Sync and FreeSync).

In Windows 7, you can have specific programs disable it (which is what I do when I run something in a borderless window) or disable it completely by using the Aero Basic theme.

In Windows 8, Aero is replaced with the "Metro" design. With it, they also got rid of Aero Basic (although it's still hidden in the OS) and desktop composition. I believe v-sync was never removed, since most games are played in fullscreen anyway.
