If your ping is 500, you gonna have problems.

AlmieLets face it, if a bug like this happened on a 6v6 class the community would go nuts about how gamebreaking it is, because its pyro, nobody cares. I personally think that its not gamebreaking, but its also not a negligible bug either. Everyone is just underreacting because pyro, just like they would overreact if it was for example medic.

Not really.

If a bug were gamebreaking we would have noticed it already.

People have said for years that pyros who have lower ping win the fights more than a pyro with higher ping.

This is not why. Honestly, this should impact very few people in the community on a regular basis regardless.

some of you guys are way over reacting. i don't think it is obvious at all that higher ping would make your projectile have a shorter distance. the high ping demo/soldier difference is not comparable at all

I really doubt many people would notice if the medibeam didn't go 10 or 15% as far with X ping. (I know that it locks on and doesn't function as a projectile, just using it a random example)

since wareya mentioned net_fakelag doesn't work properly; how about a proper demonstration? maybe a european and an american can join a server so that one will have low ping and the other will have high ping..?

They're particles.
Effectively small cubes; at 0 ping these originate at the pyro's model and extend the full range they can extend. For all other latencies where the origin and final point of the flame particles movement are modified (usually going less distance).
Yes, this has been known for years, yes, it's bullshit. No, it doesn't necessarily ALWAYS lower the distance.

Just like how ping affects everything else that has to be semi-persistent in tf2, it affects flames in retarded ways. Occasionally longer, occasionally no reg, occasionally arbitrarily between those. I had a superstition that if my ping was in the 20's 40's 60's or 80's my flame reg would be really garbage and I would immediate go to shotgun. 10, 30, 50, 70 (stretching it) and god forbid 90, I wouldn't see as many issues. So it's always been stupid.
