Define "Good Mic Quality". Good as in not terrible? Good as in Studio Quality?

Idk if you're ok with it but if you want a good mic you're definitely better off getting a nice headset and then buying a separate mic to go with it. If you want the mic to be part of the headset then good luck, most of them are terrible.

Audio-Technica BPHS1
-it's a broadcast headset, the mic is the main attraction here.

Audio Technica ATH-ADG1
-expensive, but the mic is quality

Beyerdynamic MMX 300
-same as ath-adg1

yahoo said good mic quality is a priority and the zalman, while passable, is far from that. The modmic 4.0 does have very good mic quality though.

The modmic quality will surpass just about every other headset's microphone quality.

i'd recommend seperate headphones + microphone.. most headsets are actually quite overpriced in terms of quality :/

but if you insist on a headset then i would definitely not get anything expensive.

do you have a budget?

Most high end headsets still have terrible mics. I used to use the mic in my Siberia V2 Frost Blue headset; the quality was terrible but the sound was still quite clear to understand. I now use a Blue Yeti, but for just com'ing in mumble, $180 is not worth the weight.

Apparently people are surprised when I say that I use the Zalman mic because it sounds good from what they say.

I've had my pair of Sennheiser PC350 for several years now and they are great. The mic quality is amazing as well, it pretty much blocks any other outside noise unless you have a fan blaring in your face. Sound is great even through a mobo integrated solution...however if you have a high end sound card/amp that can drive them, you'll be surprised at how awesome they can really sound. You can still find them new on ebay/amazon for around $130-150. I know a few other TF2 players that have used this model and I've never heard anyone complain about it.

The successor model is now called Sennheiser G4ME ZERO (closed back noise isolating model), or the Sennheiser G4ME ONE (open back acoustic model). Both are around $250 i think...other than the new design the specs are pretty much identical to the PC350. So unless you want the latest look, save $100 and buy the older model.

Logitech h150s (US | UK)

Solid mic and sound quality + low priced, so if you donut like them it's not a huge loss. I've had them since February and I haven't had a single problem. Doesn't come with a pop filter though so you'd have to get or make one.

HyperX Clouds are good. It's a headset created from the Takstar Pro 80, which are known as good budget headphones. The mic sounds good enough for me but that's of course subjective.

Here's a review w/ a mic test: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NaMi8dMWNbI

I modded mine with Brainwavz HM5 pads and I could wear them all day

the sennheiser PC350SE i got is pretty good (the mic is good too), even if a little expensive, also you'll need an ampli or an audio card with ampli built in to drive it, cause of their 150ohms of impedance.

prolly the best thing now is to buy a good pair of headphones, audio technica, sennheiser, beyerdynamic, koss, etc... and a desk mic or clip, also the newer version of the mod-mic doesn't sound as good as previous versions, and it's pretty expensive, any ~10€ desk/clip mic will pretty much do the same

tl;dr
ad700x + mic
pc350 for strictly headsets

if you REALLY care about mic quality, and want to record your next album from your headset, just get an external mic. l
like what is this for, why would you prioritize the mic lol

I like Seinheiser the pc333d had been the most durable of the ones I have used.

yahooI've heard good things about astro 50. can any1 confirm it?

I've listened to both the old and new astro a50s (my friend has them)
The old ones are fucking terrible
The new ones are okay

Keep in mind this is completely disregarding the fact that they're $300. They maybe sound like $120/$150 headphones.

tldr: don't waste your money
