blueeHow common/rare is it to have a player on different teams in different leagues?
That's the only issue I can see with keeping a DB, other than making sure it's up to date.

Pretty sure it's still against ESEA rules to be on more than one team per game, and I presume? CEVO has the same rule. This is something you mostly see in UGC, etc.

I think he's asking how common it is for a player to be on Team A for ESEA and Team B for CEVO idk i could be wrong

When I meant database I just meant a collection of info. The obvious sources would be leagues like CEVO and ESEA, but right now there are no major NA leagues with public APIs. (In fact, I think ETF2L is the only major TF2 league in the world with an adequate API.) A better option, IMO, would be having TeamFortressTV act as the backend, but I'm not aware of any APIs there either.

If it did come to the rare occurrence where I could implement multiple sources of information into StatusSpec, I would just allow the user to choose which source to use so that they could use the one most corresponding to the match they're watching.

Yeah, leagues only let you play on one team in that same league.

What I mean is:
Player X plays in ESEA and UGC, different team names so different tag.
Plugin looks for that player's SteamID in the database, which team tag does it use?

You could probably do a decent job figuring it out with "well these are the other teammates so it must be this team", but I can think of a few ways to break that.

Alternatively, you tell the plugin which league the match is in and it can figure it out from there, which isn't fully automatic but still miles better than the current method.

Edit: 7 minute ninja rip me

Ah my bad, I misread your post. My mistake.

Multiple leagues is very common. Definitely a good thing to be fleshing out now before the new seasons start.

Is the time correct this time? It says 9:30pm EDT for me, but the CEVO website says 9:30pm CDT (so 10:30pm EDT).

Actually, StatusSpec will work even if you exec them before getting in a server (unless there's a bug that I'm just now hearing about). It links up the user with the Steam ID and replaces the alias on the fly.

dashnerI've compiled some of the alias cfgs I've made so far for the TFTV invitational:

Here

or

All 16 teams here

I'll be updating it as the week goes on. Figured casters would get some use out of them. If you have StatusSpec installed and ready, all you theoretically need to do is exec the configs and it should work. Should probably double check the CFGs if anyone on camera uses it however, since rosters are unlocked for the event and new steam IDs can get thrown in the mix on some teams. Some of these are just there to give the teams their proper tags as well on CEVO Match Mod servers.

EDIT: All the teams participating should be there now.

This is amazing, needs more love. Another example of us building things into the game that Valve should have done long ago.

If any of you were curious, this is why overtime handling failed in the Goldman Sachs vs Ding Dong Daddies match last night: https://github.com/ValveSoftware/Source-1-Games/issues/1751

For now, I have made a workaround in our match mod. Overtime handling should function as expected now.
