Windowed vsync?

I play on Windows 8 and recently bought a 144hz monitor, just trying to get the most out of it.

As far as I know, when you play in windowed mode for TF2 on Win8 it forces vsync (and you can't disable it like you could have in Win7). Easy fix is just play in full screen, but unfortunately for me, that isn't an option. My game crashes whenever I alt+tab.

Is there any solution to this? This being disabling vsync in Win8 or fixing my TF2 crashing whenever I alt+tab in full screen.

Which graphics card do you have? I know that some support an option to always disable vsync via gpu settings.

Actually, you can disable vsync on Windows 8. You just have to disable it completely in the Nvidia control panel. I believe you can't do this worth stock AMD drivers, but you can try. Catalyst does have an option to completely disable vsync, but I don't think it applies on the OS level.

I play on a AMD R9 280x, so unfortunately, I think that isn't a possibility.

I think you are crashing when alt+tabbing because you still have -dxlevel ## in your launch options. That's what happened to me when I left it in launch options anyways.
