    fucking tread water you imbecile
nice screaming and putting yourself in a panic, and then having your muscles cramp
and it takes you two and a half minutes to take off your shoes so you're more efficient?
also, your friend is a fuckwad idiot who doesn't know how boats work, had he steered hard into the wind, he would have just stopped and chilled for a second while you swam over
and you two idiots didn't pack any floatation devices to be thrown to you

I may have gotten a little frustrated as my index finger tired. TF2 never prepared me for this.

However, as far as execution goes, this was, indeed, done very well

1) If you think you're going to stay calm at the start, you think way too highly of yourself. In reality almost everyone will panic

2) Again, you're panicking. TBH, those shoes wouldn't even hurt your swimming that much, if at all.

3) He has no idea how sailboating works, as explained at the start. I have never been on a sailboat and other than trying to steer the wheel (which has been explained to me doesn't do much) I would not have been able to turn around either.

4) That is the whole point on the game; to explain how important floation devices are.

I don't understand why you would pull off your fingertip though. Anyone have a clue? Maybe part of the hallucinations.

Okay.
1) It's about overcoming it. Maybe I think highly of myself, but I'm fairly comfortable in water, and would try and use those initial very important moments to convey what needs to be done for #3.
2) The shoes definitely would hurt your swimming. They're porous, and will take on a lot of weight. It will be hard to kick. Frankly, I'd probably undress completely if I'm at all in for a longer run with the aforementioned imbecile friend.
3) Seriously, he's dumb. Wind in sail = move forward. No sail = no wind. Turn into wind, unhook sail, success.
4) *Edit*, you're right, I didn't see the final message in the "movie download" version of it

I'm not hating on the whole thing. I'm hating with frustration that this person died so easily. The whole situation upset me, and it really has left me thinking about my plan of action.
Also, for what it's worth, the boom didn't hit him that hard, and his hand stops it from hitting his head. Swim up up up quickly, you see where the boat goes. His friend could have tossed him SOMETHING.

Eesh, I have work to do, and this is just upsetting me. If anyone wants to keep playing devil's advocate, I actually want you to. I'm fighting the idea of me drowning, is all. I'll say it again: this was very well executed, and has left an impact.

I may be missing something again, but this doesn't make sense at all.
First off, it detracts from the point of the whole experience. It has no place there.
And on the other hand, if you wanted to kill someone, just push them in the water and keep sailing?

Also, @Shizno:
Yeah, maybe. I've been in choppy sea before, and of course it isn't easy. However, I've said I'm comfortable in water. The "maybe" comes from me simply not knowing. I've never been knocked in the water with the knowledge that my chances are slim. I've panicked sometimes in my life, I know what it feels like. I've overcome it sometimes, sometimes not. I'm saying maybe, to give myself hope in such a hypothetical scenario. This was a very good post, I'm glad it made it on here, and I'm glad this video was made.
However, I will pursue dialogue on it. To an extent, I'd argue it's unwise to go in the middle of a body of water, with an unskilled partner, no life-vest, AND a poor swimming ability.
I don't understand the flak I'm getting. I'm not trying to one-up the makers or say they did something wrong. I'm saying the mentality of the fictional character was wrong. He could have done things more efficiently to save himself, but didn't, and that's where I'm throwing my points at.

Mirror neurons.
In case you actually wanted an answer, since I'm quite aware it didn't actually happen.
I subjected myself to an experience, so I experienced it in part.
I really don't see why everyone has an issue with what I've been posting in this thread, I've merely been trying to delve deeper into the hypothetical situation.

That's like... the entire point of the game though. To show happens when you make these mistakes out at sea. You drown and die a horrible death no matter how hard you try to fight it. So arguing about how the character is kind of stupid is really redundant because everyone that's played the game should have already noticed that.

the fingernail is a metaphor for the pain you feel in your own finger as you're scrolling up like crazy.

also if the water was that cold you're gonna be hypothermic quick, lifejacket or not.

also French guy running sailing away, classic Charles.

Got to about 8 min and then got bored and let my guy drown

Couldn't you just like, float on your back and take deep breaths? as long as you're not in the middle of a storm I'm pretty sure you could float on the water easily for several hours
