Composite to VGA?

I'm trying to hook up a Wii/Gamecube too my CRT monitor which only takes VGA in. Both the Wii and Gamecube have some kind of Nintendo-trademarked video out, and for both I have the corresponding Nintendo -> composite video adapter. I bought a VGA -> composite/S-video adapter, thinking it would work, but evidently I need a powered converter like this for that.

What I'm wondering is: Is this the right thing to be buying? Is there a better way to do this? What specific model should I be looking at?

I already have the needed RCA -> 3.5mm audio adapter, so that isn't a problem.

No these things convert PC to RCA, not RCA to PC.

to be clear, the link you provided in your post goes from VGA to RCA. You need it the other way around (RCA to VGA), such as this.

lol, right in the description: For example, if you want to hook your Wii up to a monitor with a VGA port, youll need this converter.

Oh, I had been searching for the wrong thing then. Thanks for pointing that out. Are there any specs for these that I should be looking at, or is it more of a build quality/reviews thing. I'm guessing that a Wii doesn't put out more than 800x600

Truthfully, I'm not really sure. I don't think you can go wrong with it as long as you know that it's an RCA to VGA converter box and not some cable. A cable wouldn't convert anything here, so that would be useless to you. The one I linked should be just fine, and it seems like a fair price.
