Maybe make it so once a thread is locked you can no longer edit posts in the thread? Seems to me that if the thread is locked it doesn't really make sense that people can still essentially make new posts by editing.

the thread will fall off since you can't bump it by posting. i doubt anyone cares enough about a locked thread that they'd go back and read edits.
