So in about another year and a half (if things go according to plan) I'll be graduating with a degree in natural science, a minor in math, a minor in general engineering, and a masters in education. Ultimately I'd like to settle down and teach high school physics, but I don't really feel like settling anywhere right off the bat. I really want to go live somewhere different for a few years or so, and since pretty much every single place has schools, then there will likely be job opportunities where ever I choose to go (even if it's only substitute teaching/temping).

I've been learning guitar and picking it up pretty quickly over the last six months or so, and I'm hoping to be pretty decent at it by the time I graduate, so I really want to move to a city with a lot of amazing live music to check out. Specifically I love the blues, and any place that offers a lot of live blues jams would be ideal. What cities do you all think have the best blues scenes? And the best music scenes in general?

Totally off topic but as I'm an uneducated euro pleb, the concept of minors isn't familiar to me. What level of learning does it involve compared to a normal degree? Would a minor in a subject prepare you for work in that area?

a minor is like an area of focus outside of your major. It's more for resume padding than anything else, but it can give you a leg up in your field depending on how well it fits what you're doing.

EDIT: Memphis is a good blues city, and if you're looking right, Chicago has some areas with some great blues bars.

I moved to Austin a year and a half ago, it's awesome.

Make sure to check out the job market for what you want to do though, you should probably have something lined up before you go move somewhere!
