HUD edit - server time limit timer

Just wanted to show everyone something I did with my HUD.

On the July 10 update, valve added a command - tf_hud_showservertimelimit.

For those who may have not noticed, this enables the server time limit to be used as an overlay on your main HUD, whereas before, this timer could only be seen when viewing the scoreboard.

In addition to setting the command to 1, you must add supplemental text to hudobjectivetimepanel.res - thanks to rays for hooking me up with that.

And this is pretty much what you get when using that.

Today, I showed a friend a screenshot of my hud, and he asked about the extra timer he saw. I explained to him the above, and then he asked if it was possible to "swap" the two timers, so that the server time limit timer would be the default "larger" timer, and the round timer would be the smaller one. I said sure it's possible, and then proceeded to edit it.

I think the server time limit is much more useful than the round timer. As a medic, I often use this timer to count/track ubers, and communicate with my team specific times that ubers will be full, as well as other things that require specific times to be called out. So now this is my default timer.

Here's what it looks like.

It was a bit complicated to do this, but it's not too bad. If you want me to upload my hud, I can do that. Everyone's hud/resolution is different, so you can't simply copy stuff from my hud into yours, but if you'd like help doing this, I'll be glad to help.

tl:dr Since Valve added an option to put the server time limit timer on your main HUD,I decided to make said timer my default - as in my "default" timer is large, and the round timer is smaller, and centered underneath the server time limit timer.

I've been waiting for something like this, considering how useless the round timer is, and how important the server timer is in competitive.

Thanks for the guide.

Decided to go ahead and upload the hud files.

If you want to compare and contrast my hud files with yours, the following files are the ones you'll need to look at:

hudobjectivetimepanel - broeselhud/resource/ui
hudobjectivestatus - also in resource/ui

Adding the server time limit timer itself is not hard especially if you already use the latest broesel version (2.7). If you're not using broeselhud, you will have to set the fonts in those files to be compatible with fonts in your HUD's clientscheme.

If you want to make the server time limit timer your default timer however, you will have to adjust the position so that it is larger/above the round timer. Additionally, you could align and position the two timers any way you wanted. I just have mine centered vertically and sized differently because that's how I like it.

Tried dl'ing your hud and adding the files to my broesel, as well as dl'ing this. It's making my round timer small and in position like in the pics above, but the map timer isn't there.

tf_hud_showservertimelimit 1

Add that to your auto exec.

:/ I did everything, even replaced the font with Futura 16, and I still can't get it to work. Added tf_hud_showservertimelimit 1 to my autoexec. :/

In your HudObjectiveTimePanel.res, make sure you followed the scheme with the curly brackets { } correctly, and you have them in the right places. Then, make sure you're on a server without any weird time limits. I'm pretty sure if you make a local host server on any regular cp map, it will have the right time limit.

If you still don't see the server timer, adjust the x and y pos of server time limit label (the thing you added in hudobjectivetimepanel.) Just try out different values, start with increments of 50 perhaps.

Trying to implement this into shinyhud and it's giving me problems. Not exactly sure why but I keep getting this instead of the actual time value.

So, I decided to start using it, having the server time limit bigger and round timer smaller, underneath sever one. I did what you've written, but the only thing I get, is server time limit. My round timer disapeared. My knowledge about huds is not good enough to make it, I think. Can anyone of you made this for me, when having some free time? I would be very grateful. I use KNHUD: http://www.rdyup.org/huds/

Thanks in advance!

More busted Huds!

Trying to work my way back into recorded casts, and tried to install this onto SquareHUD by krum (to also keep it updated). After about an hour of fiddling with it all I can get to come up is these two little bars:

Might there have been a new file generated that would cause an issue? This particular HUD I'm working with is rather old.

Just in case of bracket errors here's the two files in question I've seen in this thread mentioned:
