not sure what you mean by mainter but i'm assuming you possibly mean makers. chris' fps is the best one you can use, even though someone else is maintaining it.

Last time I checked there was someone who linked an update of Chris' FPS configs through pastebin. Although I can't tell where he got it from you can just use the regular FPS configs (the ones he released before he left) and should still be fine. If you're really in need of more fps, I don't think it would be that hard to search.

Also, I just found a combination of Chris' Maxframes and m0re's config here. There are different commands so I'm assuming that you would get more fps than the average maxframes. http://pastebin.com/5VTYpWrJ

EDIT: Just remembered it would be easier if you started checking out the fps compilation thread. I believe the pastebin to update the FPS configs reside there.

Pretty sure there is no new maintainer. There is no need to update the configs unless valve adds/unlocks new ConVars.

No, it just broke my tf2. it made all the ingame sounds delayed by about a second, and caused loud noises to have static.

Green_Z, if that's what caused it, you shouldn't need to reinstall tf2. Backup your configs, delete them from the tf directory, then put -autoconfig in your launch options. Resets video and performance options.

Just take it out after you've launched the game once.

hey there, not many people know about this (i think?) but stabby has somewhat of an fps config. http://steamcommunity.com/groups/stabbyvideo/discussions/0/846956740656062937/

just try it out i guess. i used it a few times.

also try running tf2 at lower resolutions for better fps. i have a shitty 300$ laptop and it helps a bit.

why?

Chris' configs are awesome but why would you immediately dismiss the work of someone who has as many hours into this game as stabby?

Playing the game for a long time does not mean you know what you're doing when it comes to configs.

Chris sat down for months and months to make the original config and sifted through all of Valve's console commands for TF2 (https://developer.valvesoftware.com/wiki/List_of_TF2_console_commands_and_variables). I humored you and looked at this stabby config. It's just a copy paste of bits and pieces of chris' config. Nothing special, as I assumed. He took the pieces that he liked and left the ones he didn't. That's hardly an updated fps config, rather is it just a personal taste fps config.

As it is, there is no reason to maintain the configs unless Valve releases updates for the existing commands or new commands which would be listed in the patch notes every patch. Chris' config is the best available and original config to use for fps. Everything else is a personal taste config, because there is no new commands used in any of them that distinguishes itself above chris'.

Instead of dismissing a cfg based on the person, why not dismiss it because you understand no new optimizations can really be made on the user's end instead of taking it as an opportunity to insult someone for no fucking reason.

Holy shit who's insulting? I legitimately stopped reading at stabby. Based on experience, one can rightfully make the claim stabby has no experience when it comes to source engine optimizations and uses. Now if it was say Lange, this would be a different case because based on his experience, he knows how things work due to prior achievements.

Just because you copy and paste shit, doesn't mean you know your shit. That's just parroting. I don't know where the insult came from. How is it insulting someone to say they made no new fps stride in their "updated config" which they posted publicly? There are legitimately no new commands or configs that will do anything different because Valve hasn't changed anything.

Stabby's config is what he likes best. It is a chunk of Chris' fps config. Why take a chunk that is a personal preference to one person, when you can take the whole thing from Chris'? Never did I imply Stabby was incompetent or insulted him. That is a rash and misdirected assertion on your part. I implied he did nothing more then tune an already existing config to suit his personal taste, which has no business when it comes to widely used configs, because it is a PERSONAL config. It was not made with the thoughts of all players in mind, rather it was made for that one sole person. So for it to be posted on here when it really contributes nothing, seems like an irrational post.

I don't know shit about console commands either, but I changed the variables in my ragdolls so that they will happen and stay until they go out of my field of vision, which then they will disappear. Does that mean I made an updated config and know what I'm doing? Absolutely not, because I didn't add anything new, rather I just changed what was already there to suit my personal needs. That is the point both you, and the person before seem to be missing.

One could argue no posts in this thread really contribute to anything seeing as there is no new maintainer and there are no new cvars to mess around with, but one of the few posts that actually makes an attempt at showing a config is shot down immediately without even looking at the config.

You could imply that any configs from anyone will be tuning an existing config because there are no new tweaks available, so there was absolutely no point behind your post in #14...

or

he could have had previous knowledge that stabby's fps config is not in fact topical

in which case stopping reading at "stabby" would be perfectly 100% legitimate in no bad blood.

You seem to have a problem with me questioning the credentials of a person, and are deflecting that with "well anyone could be thrown into your argument".

Stabby has not once proved nor made strides anywhere regarding fps and configs of TF2. Why would I give the time of day to a person that can't back their work with proper experience? That's like hiring someone to do a job and not knowing whether or not they've actually be certified/done the job before. And even when I did give it the time of day (like suggested) to look through it, it's exactly as I expected. I did use the example of Lange in my prior posts, but if Lange made an fps config, I would look at it solely because of those credentials of past knowledge. Whether or not it would be different is a moot point.

You just seem to be upset that I said something about stabby that doesn't fit with your own personal views, which is a terrible grounds for a rebuttal discussion.

Why would you give ANYONE the time of day if you have already established that no strides can be made in fps configs? There is no point in pointing out stabby's lack of credentials if its already known that nothing else can be done.

Hey sorry to necro this I did not want to make a new thread. I recently changed cl_threaded_bone_setup from 0 to 1 and got a slight fps increase. I was wondering if there were any other commands that would benefit from being changed?
