Anyone enjoy rougelike games? I'm looking for a good one to play to kill time or just for fun (or to maybe get away from TF2 at times during the day). I know of the major ones like Nethack, Dungeon Crawl Stone Soup, Angband, etc. But I'm looking for something new to play.

If you don't know what I mean by rougelike, here's an example of what a rougelike game would maybe look like.

try out dungeons of dredmor/binding of isaac (not sure if this really counts lol) if you haven't already

i heard the pit is really good too

i think most people just play dungeon crawl or nethack though

Tried it before about a year ago and didn't really enjoy it. Might try it again.

I've played and own Dredmor/Isaac. Both good games. Might have to try the pit.

Desktop Dungeons. You can play entire game in ~10 minutes but it's still pretty fun. A good beginner roguelike too. (for anyone reading)

Doom Roguelike is really awesome. Has all the different monsters, powerups, guns from the original games. Has various secret level, boss stages, etc. I played it for like a month straight last summer but never beat it.

Faster Than Light is also another game that's sort of like a roguelike. Not free though. Really fun though.

Have played it another computer that I own. I don't know why I never installed it on this one. Probably going to do that. I've heard of the Doom one and I own FTL.

It's hard to call Dwarf Fortress a roguelike; fortress mode plays more like some sort of devilishly complicated simulation game, and adventurer mode isn't that fleshed out yet, so most of what you can do is beating enemies into a pulp with their own socks.

This is one of my favourite games ever though. It's one of the only roguelikes that achieves a good balance between preset and randomly generated content, so it never feels either scripted or uninteresting.
