if you do it to feel better/relaxed then try going to therapy, it takes most people a lot more motivation to quit than just knowing its bad for you, you usually gotta want something else bad enough to want to quit and that something can be different for everyone

it kinda just happens when theres an abundance of drink
like if there's 1 litre in front of me and Im not close to running out then I lose the wherewithal to stop
"just buy smaller bottles"
the cheapskate in me will struggle greatly to not purchase the best $/oz size

i guess you should ask yourself what it is that makes you want to finish the bottle. is it really gonna improve your night if you drink more?

if u cant control ur habbits and u just start drinking when u see a little alcohol then u just need to quit. most people - so prolly u too - cant control some urges. ik some people that are ruining their lives like this. its the boring route but believe me, its the best way. hope everything turns out ok :)

go to alcoholics anonymous confess to others and yourself that you are an addict and live in community with others to help stabilize you and need to go binge drinking as a way to cope, an addict that's alone is the worst kind of addict.

" You're weak, you're out of control and you've become an embarrassment to you and your family."

there are about a million better places to ask this question than here, but my 2c is if you can't stop yourself from turning a little into a lot, then you shouldn't have even a little

lots of ppl in here are recommending how to quit drinking, which is valid, and would solve ur problem, but its way harder to do than specifically stopping urself binge drinking/overdrinking, which is what ur talking about

obvious first step is getting into the habit of creating a visible limit for urself before u start. scratch markers on the bottle, setting aside max amt of cans/bottles, even pouring from the bottle into a smaller bottle. even if its a high limit, it forces ur sober mind to rationalize the consequences and be honest about ur intentions

obviously enforcing the limit is the harder part, but theres easy things that help. keeping as much of ur stock in a inaccessible location (locked cabinet, another room, a high shelf, anything to make it even slightly inconvenient to access) is remarkably effective. regularly checking in with someone (gf, parent, friend, therapist, even a journal) about your daily limits and how well u follow them helps too. they dont have to be a cheerleader or act disappointed or anything, it just unlocks the instinctive shame response in the human brain that generally motivates ppl to be societally functional

probably wont help for everyone but its my 2c. gl :)

brodyeven pouring from the bottle into a smaller bottle
keeping as much of ur stock in a inaccessible location

i think this can work and i feel a little stupid for not thinking of it before
i can definitely pour into a smaller bottle and put the rest of my shit in my trunk. I cba to go out to my car just to get more drinks and im pretty well-conditioned against touching my keys after drinking too
thank u man im gonna start trying this right away
having that stuff in my trunk is probably gonna make me driver calmer too lol

i'm glad you're getting good advice in this thread but at the end of the day we're just a bunch of assholes on a forum. if you really can't manage you should seek help in meatspace instead of cyberspace.

AA is a good tool.

Be honest with yourself on why you are drinking

Take personal inventory and try to understand what is triggering the binge drinking.
