ABOUT

4Zae is a small charity event meant to memorialize Zae, a beloved TF2 player and teammate who passed away recently due to complications with Type 1 Diabetes. The event is benefitting the Junior Diabetes Research Foundation, the charity of his family's choice. You can generously support them through the Tiltify Campaign linked below.

The event will feature a small Melee tourney, some small TF2 tournaments, including Ultiduo, MGE, Dodgeball, giveaways, and a discussion with Zae's family and former teammates to commemorate his life.

Join us in honor of Zae, 4pm EST, at https://www.twitch.tv/4zae

Hi everyone! On behalf of our admin team and I, I just wanted to announce that yesterday's stream was a great success and an unforgettable experience to manage, thanks to the help of all our admins and all the people who donated and participated. We went late and had some troubles along the way (the stream was initially scheduled to last 6.5 hrs but ended up going just past 11 hrs), but we learned a lot and in the end managed to support a worthy cause in the name of our friend.

With an initial goal of $300 dollars to raise, we absolutely annihilated our expectations with a final total of $5,706.96 raised for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.

There are an incredible amount of people to thank who made everything possible and although I will inevitably miss some, here is a list of those who contributed.

A huge thanks to:

The stream supporters
Whether this is our donors, people who chatted, or people who allowed us to advertise the stream on their discord/website on such short notice, we owe it to you guys for the incredible number of viewers we received throughout the entire stream and the insane expectation breaking amount of money we raised. Everyone who had anything to contribute, whether it be money, items to giveaway, or their support in chat is greatly appreciated.

The casters.
All these people came through in our time of need to bring life to the simple events we chose to run.
- Millie
- Risen (from Melee)
- Tcmano
- Catberg (aka drew)
- Fleskore
- Dragonborn (from MaxDB)
- radpipe (from MaxDB)
- novajasmine (from MaxDB)
- Slugmundo
- Cort
- Mariomanz
- Synova

The jumpers.
We had a bunch of jump races lined up to fill the spaces between larger events and regrettably we had to cut 3 out of 5 of them due to time constraints.
- A huge thank you to all the jumpers who showed up ready to give it their all, even if we couldn't always offer the opportunity.

The players and tourney organizers.
The events would be nothing without the players and we'd like to thank everyone who participated. Tournaments were organized by Hexereii, our friends at MaxDB, and myself. An extra shoutout to Hex for providing lots of great ideas which certainly helped us manage things better.

The moderators.
Though the chat was pretty much exclusively good, having these people on hand to keep an eye on chat and discord was a huge relief off our shoulders and allowed us to focus on keeping the event going strong.

Fovlet, a representative of Telltale Games who provided us with some great insight on running a successful stream as well as providing the game codes for us to giveaway. An amazing and super smart person we felt honored to be working with.

Dan Connors, co-founder of Telltale Games and JDRF video game liason, who recorded a very personal and inspirational video for us to share on stream. Telltale games was responsible for the Sam and Max games which is of course where the Max's Severed Head hat in TF2 comes from and the purple painted one served as Zae's emblem.

A massive thank you to JDRF for the incredible cause they are working towards and their participation within the stream.

Hondo and Jazz. The majority of my time spent working on the stream was amongst these two amazing people and although it was a stressful night, it was all the more enjoyable and manageable because of these two guys.

A thank you to Zae's family for their participation in the stream, always showing so much gratitude for our small event that was essence of bittersweetness, and most so for them. They alone contributed a total of $1515.69 towards our campaign. (that's over 1/4th of our total!)

A final thank you to Zae, who inspired us all to take a leap and do something we've never done before. Many of you may not have known Zae, but we hope his personality and heart echoes through our event.

With all the things we learned, we have been filled with confidence, creativity, and knowledge for the future. Although it's still tentative, there are discussions about having another event like this somewhere down the line. It's a nice thought given that this event started with just a discussion too.

Finally, please remember to take care of yourselves and appreciate the people around you.

I miss you Zae. An absolute legend in many ways. Glad we could honor his memory with a great event and a great fundraiser.
