Toastrz97Hollow Knight is the best 2D metroid-vania ever made, and the combat & movement is ludicrously crispy. It tells a cool story but is pretty cryptic, though the atmosphere the lore and dialogue gives is impeccable. For the 25+ hours of content $15 is a fucking steal!!

I'm not sure Hollow Knight benefits from better graphics as much as some of the other games in this thread tho

nimbyhow did you get one?

i got the 3080FE to boost workstation power while waiting on my 3090FTW because i knew my bro would pay me msrp when i was done with it. I got the 3080 in the bestbuy drop a few weeks ago. I have multiple discords that ping me when drops happen, and I got lucky. Bestbuy is the only etailer that I know of that reliably reserves your product once you get to the checkout page, which fixes how bots can outpace you and insta-pay for everything

Turned out not being necessary because the queue for the 3090FTW Ultra caught up to me a week later. It'll be here tomorrow (in theory)

@det here ya go w/ the 3090 FTW3 Ultra. averaging ~100 fps when near water, 120 when no water. max view distance @ 1080p. very playable.
~50 fps @ 4k with some reeeeally rough spikes when moving from one area to another. super easy to take really nice screenshots but i wouldn't just sit down and play it.

ignore my skin. i picked a small character for PvP advantage rofl

KevinIsPwnI love games that tell a story and have good movement. That's literally all I care about though

Play Outer Wilds. Not The Outer Worlds, Outer Wilds; maybe the best game I've ever played that I don't like purely for mechanics. It's a space exploration game with light puzzles that was super reminiscent of Myst for me. Every new thing you learn about the world organically enables you to do something else in it, unlock some new path, make use of some new tool, so my recommendation is to learn as little about it as possible before playing.
Although I said I don't mainly like it for the mechanics the movement is really fun, holding jump to crouch and releasing it to jump felt so intuitive after a while that jumping in other games felt weird afterwards.
Turn off the autopilot and jetpack assist features, I played without them and the danger of being able to build up too much speed and only realise when it's too late makes the game much more compelling in my opinion.

I'm saying nothing about the story except that it's easily in the top two game stories of anything I've played, everything is best discovered yourself.
