Is Lawena installed inside of your TF2 folder? If it is, try moving/reinstalling it somewhere else, such as in a folder on your desktop and see if that helps.

Through extensive experimentation, I've noticed that Lawena recording doesn't display either wrangler lasers or unusual effects properly...if you use the pldx particles.

The pldx particles bundled in the vpk seem to be identical to the ones given in a download from PLDX, but whether you use his particles on their own or you use them with Lawena, they remove unusual effects and wrangler effects.

I'm under the impression that these particles are quite old, and they both add new particles and overwrite originals.

Is there any way to fix this? The PLDX particles make the game look gorgeous, and I'd love this program if I didn't have to disable those to have all game info displayed.

It's because the pldx particles were released way before any unusual effect or weapons like wrangler. Altough I never encountered this issue because personally I dont like the particles it's normal it doesn't work.

I didn't find any other more relevant Lawena thread so I'm bumping this one.

I've recently asked Quantic (lawena's dev) to add HLAE support as I've been using it A LOT for smooths. I've been testing the last few days with him. And it seems to be working fine so Lawena now fully supports HLAE, smoothing tf2 shots has never been easier!! This will make my workflow so much better for the play of the day series and i55 fragmovie, I really can't thank him enough. Big ups to him!

It's still only available in the preview branch of lawena but I assume it will be coming out to the public version soon since our tests went fine.

I might make a tutorial soon on how to smooth with HLAE and also share my HLAE configs when I have some free time.

When I record, I typically use the "killstreaks only" preset. However on some maps, a round timer has begun to pop up on some of my clips.

What is the name of the round timer in the HUD files, and how would I go about removing it in Lawena?

The timer is from the new update, so it's apart from the outdated hud. I think that it's under hudtimer or timer something in scoreboard.res. I'm not sure.

You might have some more luck looking here: http://www.teamfortress.tv/19073/hud-editing-short-questions-quick-answers

I definitely second this, I've always wanted to try using HLAE but the workflow seemed too complicated to learn

You can always manually backup your games files then copy the lawena config files into your tf folder when recording with HLAE. Having it built into the tool would definitely be a nice feature though.

It might be a while until I have some decent free time to work on it, maybe only mid-summer, but I haven't forgot about it! And thanks for the support!

It is built in already, that was the point of my post

Not sure if it's launched on the full version already but I'm using a preview version Quantic made for testing HLAE support before porting it to the public version, this is how you do it.

any chance we can get this updated? pyro update broke it.

e: a workaround for the time being is to update the property in info.vdf (in lawena's hud) to 2, which fixes the HUD in game but will break the main menu and tools menu.
