i havent seen anyone else do this so why not i do it?
i made this essentials folder that includes everything newer players need:
a similar, but better hud (improved tf2 hud)
fov: 90
min view models
crosshairs
organized config files
note: its still in "development" so if you have some criticism, recommendations, or bugs, leave a comment!
download the file here
just put the .rar file into
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Team Fortress 2\tf\custom
and extract the file

It should be modular.

Right now if someone wants to install this and then later they want to install a different custom hud its a nightmare.

fellenyou have some loose & undocumented files; i mean, in servercontrols.cfg:// 2. Add "exec servercontrols" to your "custom\YOURSTUFF\cfg\autoexec.cfg" file, then restart Team Fortress 2.you straight up ignored this, and nothing points to recommended.cfg either
your regenerate.wav sound replacement (not essential since the sound is actually useful in some circumstances) isn't preloaded so it won't even work on valve servers
you don't include any instructions regarding the included crosshair materials or config.cfg - will a newer player intrinsically know how to set these up?
also, is an overheal particle replacement essential?

those are just some side-criticisms, the main bulk of the issue comes in the autoexec.cfg, which i've commented on here

ty and i realized a lot of this is just not finished
i hopefully fixed the crosshairs
i kept the preference ones like hud minmode and combattext because its easier to see and is less cluttering

i made one of those, albeit way more barebones, awhile ago. included zoom ratio, null movement script, autoheal, fastswitch, etc. most of the preference things i left out though, since i wanted this to be something players can easily tune to their own preferences.

also noted what the scripts/commands do, in case newbies want to go through the file and pick what they'd like...

as for criticisms, i have hardly any. my gripe is with the lack of organization and as fellen stated, there is a lot of personal preference commands
i'd take the time and write a brief summary of what a most command (groups) do for those who are curious, and format everything so it's pretty. maybe different files for each group (e.g, optimization, preference, hud-related settings, misc...) of commands?

otherwise i like the idea. despite the critiques i'd refer this to a player starting out.
