Stepping down from Head Admin at UGC

It is the end of an era for me at UGC. I’d like to thank everyone there who has worked with me from my time of being hired to now. I was hired for UGC back in 2018, and have been helping lead and run the past 10 seasons. While I am staff over at RGL, this statement does not reflect or represent any ideas from RGL.

Over at UGC, we have always tried to keep up a consistent work ethic and have spent over a full decade of proud work for the TF2 community. Over time as I have been busy with my own life, a noticeable shift has prompted me to reconsider giving my time over to UGC. This is a decision I have already spoken about to the team, and have already taken a retired role. I believe everyone is subject to the saying that sometimes change is good, and I hope with this, UGC will continue to evolve and grow.

To those who reached out to me personally to thank me or give me honest critiques throughout my years here, your words meant a lot more to me than you probably expected. I think it is important to realize that we are real people too, doing free community work. The random hate and harsh words I have received because I now represented a league with years of backlogged issues has nearly made me quit several times. It is amazing the amount of people who don’t even know who I am will threaten me because their pending issue isn’t resolved in their favor. It should never be expected of staff to have to take abuse quietly, admittedly, I am very guilty of this. To the people that were kind, and thankful, and gave me ideas to help UGC, you made it worth it.

I would lastly like to address recent bans inside of UGC. I have not been involved in the most recent bans within this past year, and have kept myself separate from the AC team. I hope the necessary changes can be made to the team to ensure accurate decisions.

Thank you to everyone who has played over these past few years!

Thank you for your community service. Being on the side of management/administration of this game and its complicated community is not easy and can sometimes -if not most of the time- become damaging and exhausting, but you keep on going, blinded by the love for this game. Have fun with your new businesses (it's all that matters!).
