Hey guys, wanted to respond to clear about the scheduling issue presented.
mmrarkteHow does rgl actually schedule matches? rofl. my team plays dynasty fx death cult lmnop and goblin zone twice in 1 season with no bye and then this happens for another team https://i.imgur.com/gspRplU.png
btw dynasty also gets no bye weeks so i have no idea how 2 teams get no bye weeks and 1 team gets 2 in 1 season
With how many teams were in advanced this season, the fact that 3 died meant we were going to run into duplicate matches on the last week. Unfortunately, there isn't any way around this without giving people matches. This being said, this also applies to BYE weeks being duplicated for a team. Quoting Tery below, he is correct and this is the exact reason we moved the BYE from Goblin.
Tery_Also to be fair, since RGL is cringe and uses rounds% to determine tiebreakers between two teams of identical W-L, a bye is actually (usually) detrimental for teams fighting for playoffs.
We wanted to give LMNOP and GOBLIN the opportunity to break into playoffs this season, with BYE weeks potentially ruining those chances because BYE weeks only give 1 round won. A big factor in this is because Advanced is top 4 for playoffs instead of top 8, because the smaller size of Advanced this season.
Tery_Edit: They actually did the exact opposite from last season. Last season they prioritized giving bye weeks to prevent rematches (despite it fucking over teams on the bubble). This season they prioritized giving rematches and letting the bye fall to teams not in the running. Just RGL things.
Taking into consideration the teams that did get screwed over, its important for us to try to find ways to adapt and improve with how we run things. I don't think there's ever going to be a perfect resolution where everyone is happy, but feedback is appreciated so we can improve as the seasons come and go.
Hunter_2_0I feel like teams that die should just have their results vacated so that every team gets a win against them. I think I'd rather have a few empty matches on the schedule than whatever clusterfuck goes on with the week by week scheduling every season. It also shouldn't feel like a race to claim your free W from the bottom ranked teams before they die.
This might as well be a BYE week regardless, because FFW don't give you full match points, just the same as BYE weeks. With all this being said, if anyone has any questions or wishes to discuss, feel free to continue the conversation here or DM me at reno#0019.
