ziamangryGrapeJuiceIIIWhen I’m playing matches that I really care about I type the following commands into console

unbind y (my chat key)
hud_say_text_time 0 (don’t see people potentially BM’ing - keeps the mental game smooth)
unbind tab (I have the match hud enabled at the top of the screen, so I don’t need to press it to see who’s alive. It also prevents me from seeing my K/D ratio, and where my teammates are on the scoreboard - keeps mental game smooth)

Speaking of K/Ds, one thing I see you do a lot youngman is look at your teams stats on the scoreboard by right clicking on their names or whatever. You need to turn this setting off IMMEDIATELY. IMMEDIATELY IMMEDIATELY IMMEDIATELY. Looking at your teammates damage and kills and deaths is a fast track way to push blame onto them for underperforming when there can be a multitude of TEAM factors that can cause them to underperform. If you’re looking at their stats and going “man my demo is feeding”, “man my combo scout can’t frag for shit”, it will cause you to lose motivation in the current match if your team is struggling, or even worse, make you lose confidence in your teammates for the weeks to come which is the WORST thing that can happen on a TEAM where you need to perform as a singular unit.

That’s all the advice I have youngman go chase those dubs
this is some rly good advice. I turned this setting off since it was added. Since you play soldier, you have to remember that your value will not always translate well into logs or stats. A soldier with 300+ dpm and a 2.0 KD in a scrim can still be a BAD soldier if he's just playing for his stats and baiting his team. The best play will not always look sexy but it will help your team get the win. TLDR; the only stat the matters is the win, start thinking about doing what you can to help your team win, not what you can do to make yourself look good.

This is true I have been trying to play with my team more.I just need to stop going so far away from my medic and I'm good. Im probably gonna review my vod tonight so yeah. Only dubs matter and the road to getting that dub.I used to care about logs so much cause I dint want to be shit talked for a bad log.I feel like me disabling tab is just gonna make me not care anymore about stats.

You don't need to get rid of your ego, you just need to be aware of it and control it. I used to have a really bad ego but I realized how it was affecting those around me so I tuned it down. Especially cause in the grand scheme of things nothing truly matters in this matrix. However going back to our 3rd dimension, ego is important because its your competitive drive. Your ego fuels you to want to improve more but if you have too much ego you start to blame external factors and overlook a lot of important things you normally would've. Too much ego leads to complacency. Stay humble, stay blessed.

also some of this shit will just get better as you grow up, i was a total goblin for lots of the time i spent playing tf2 because i had never had some of the experiences that come with adulthood, and chances are you havent had those experiences either. being aware of your inexperience in life can lead to some self-regulation with that stuff, but you're just a kid and its unreasonable to think you can hit your goal of being mature enough to not tilt and get emotional when you can't even drive to the supermarket. time heals all wounds, especially youth lmao
