Gf wants to buy airpods and I'm 99% sure there's something that either has the same quality as airpods at 1/3 of the price, or 3x the quality at the same price. She wants something that sounds nice and will last her for years. Any suggestions? Thank

Check out Techquickie/LTT/MKBHD on youtube and search for 'wireless' 'headphones' 'earbud' to get some recommendations.

Also figure out if noise cancelation, gestures, support for siri/cortana/google assistant etc. are important. Then check the size of the case, if it can fit in pockets/purses, how many charges you get out of those, or how long you can use the buds on a single charge.

It really depends. If we are talking original airpods, not pros, there are very few others that just sit inside your ear without the tip that goes inside. Only replacement for those i can think of is the fake market, where u can get same/better quality for half the price and usually ships from overseas.
If we are talking either airpod pros (or no preference between in-ears and on-ears), then there are many options and i would suggest checking the latest LTT video for a simple summary.
I am currently in the same situation but i was unable to change mind of an apple sheep, as some people go for airpods because of brand/design aspect.

If she's using iOS you really can't beat airpods. (especially the pro's). Nothing beats them in convenience, and user experience. However, there are ones that can sound better, but may be less convenient. If it's not iOS, personally I can vouch for Galaxy Buds+. Great headphones, sound nice. Only thing they lack is ANC.

theyre not that bad in comparison to the competition but theyre just not the best. if ur gonna buy an apple product, this is probably the best one.

just like any earbud it depends on what sound signature she likes and all of that. i really like my jabras because their earwing tip allows it to never fall out ever, so if i fall off my board or if im running they'd be secure and it also has passive noise isolation like IEMs do so i dont hear people around me when music is playing

as far as im aware most wireless earbuds still sound like shit even the expensive ones
