i dont know if it has happened to anyone but i keep getting added by random ppl on steam asking if i play tf2, what class do i play and even my address...
They've been trying to get me to sign up to this "competitive website" //tf2opencup.com/ saying that there will be a tournament with a big prize pool of like 2500

https://imgur.com/a/X9apPCQ

https://imgur.com/a/ywGxYYO

seems like an obvious scam but I'm just spreading the word :]

You should edit the URL to the site out of your post, just in case someone decides to get some Very Easy Money Playing TF2.

they also commonly hijack accounts and send this same scam around to the account's friend list, so don't be fooled if someone u know sends u something similar to this

Sorry to somewhat necro, but I just got messaged by this user: https://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561198263086940/
asking me to help his highlander team with a tournament with a prize. He linked me to a site named "peace game it . com" and gave me directions to sign up for his team. Obviously a scam, I pretended the link didn't work. I also googled it and the website did not exist. He then started to confusedly message me, asking if I was using Kaspersky antivirus. I told him he was an idiot for trying to scam people and then he blocked me.

Figured I would at least add a name to the list for people to watch out for. Always assume random people are trying to scam you when they link you stuff.

edit: put spaces in the link so people don't click on it reactively

Dude asked me if I played comp TF2, and what class I mained. I said I don't play much these days because my wife has fucking cancer, my mom in law (who lives with us) has cancer, I adopted a kid, and I just pop on now and then when I have a few mins to destress. Bro proceeded to attempt scam anyways. These people are low. Real low.

Happened with me today, this morning. Also got a few click bait links on my profile. I wouldn’t be surprised if this website’s forum base is being focused.
