guys I have a fx 8350 cpu, 16gb ddr3 ram and an amd r9 200 series gfx (not sure but it cost like £80)

I'm looking to upgrade my graphics card and cex have a r9 280x 3gb and a gtx 960gb for like £80-100 but i'm thinking of getting a better gfx card but im worried one might not work with my motherboard. If I already have an r9 200 series would it be worth getting a more expensive one of that type?

Or could I buy an gtx 1050? or something. I'm worried it wont work with my motherboard. I think I have 800 or 850 power and a gigabyte gigabyte ga-78lmt-usb3 motherboard.

If anyone has advice on how i can best upgrade for streaming and playing tf2 (i still get fps dips on sunshine) it would be appreciated greatly.

I don't know why I have to spell this out for your but guess what, it depends on which R9 200 series GPU you've got.
If you've got a 290X then big surprise, a 280X will not be worth it. If you've got a 270 it might be. If you've got a 280X, well...

The PCIe slot size hasn't changed since 2004 so any GPU will fit.

Streaming and TF2 are all CPU. Your CPU is ok-ish for streaming but not for TF2.

I've figured it out, I basically need a CPU that is an upgrade from the fx 8350 so im thinking 8370.

Go to device manager, then look under "Display Adapters", it should say your full GPU name.

Great idea, the FX-8370 is identical to the FX-8350 except for the 0.1 GHz higher half-load turbo so you'll get 0 to 2.4% higher fps with no downside.
