Alongside the other major invite roster shuffles, OMNI5 ESports have been forced to undergo a small change, swapping out their Roaming Soldier.
Due to various real life time commitments, cin was no longer able to commit for an entire season, forcing them to depart early from a second consecutive season of Invite. cin made their Invite debut last season with the previous iteration of OMNI5 eSports, and after that roster's demise, they were substituted for okiewaka in a few IM playoff matches for King's Crew.
In a search for an adequate replacement, the team picked up a familiar face in Goku. For the uninitiated, Goku was previously the Roamer for OMNI5 eSports — then known as Sporadic eSports — when they won IM last season, in addition to the season before that.
We reached out to team captain Phantom to talk about the new Soldier switchup and his team's outlook on the season going forward.
So [cin] left because he had to deal with school and IRL stuff and the situation was looking pretty dire initially because we didn't really know of any Roamers around his caliber to play. The thing with Goku was after we won IM last season, he decided that he would take an indefinite break from competitive TF2, so he didn't seem like a possibility. However, I decided to ask just in case and to my surprise he actually had the itch to play some TF2 again. Losing unskilled sucks but getting Goku back totally makes up for it, we've got more of our Sporadic synergy back, and he fits our playstyle well.
As for goals, we didn't really have any expectations for placing or anything as it's the first season for half the team. Our only goal is just to improve and to make it to next season intact. That said there are certainly some beatable teams for us I think something like 7th or maybe even 6th could be possible.
With a fluctuated flank, OMNI5 ESports' new roster is:
- Scout: Ghostac
- Scout: Playmo
- Roamer: Goku
- Pocket: hayes
- Demoman: fygg
- Medic: Phantom
