That plugin that they use is banned by ESEA. And for good reason. In my opinion, its pretty shitty that people use this. In my book, it's cheating.

Not officially supported by game, it's not a good thing to allow it. I'd use 110 if they allowed, since it's my fov in quake.
Are you Odisseus on an alt?

What's wrong with the built in FOV? It seems just fine for me...

Even if you're running multiple monitors TF2 will limit your horizontal FOV, so there really is no advantage to running anything higher than a widescreen monitor as far as getting any extra sight on your peripherals. I've tested this myself with multiple monitors in a competitive server and there was no FOV change. You need a plugin to extend your FOV, which is bannable in most (all?) leagues and may get you VAC banned

#8: It's entirely done in serverside settings. Why not just give an actual serverside FOV limit instead of a bandaid solution for a pseudo-exploit? There's no good reason for things to work the way they do right now.

Is he managing that through that FOV plugin? Or can he do that with vanilla tf2 settings?

You can do that with vanilla TF2, you just need a very wide ingame aspect ratio.

It's done by using 3 monitors

#9 there's a server side cvar that limits that to 90 regardless of how many monitors/how wide you set your aspect ratio (this cvar is enabled in UGC and ESEA afaik).

Im fairly sure it only limits vertical fov not horizontal. All you need to have a high horizontal FOV is to set a custom res with a stupidly wide aspect ratio.

sv_restrict_aspect_ratio_fov : 1 : , "rep" : This can be used to limit the effective FOV of users using wide-screen resolutions with aspect ratios wider than 1.85:1 (slightly wider than 16:9).

Nah, there is no good reason at all.

Still waiting for someone to actually give a worthwhile reason as to why it should be banned.

#25: Has anyone looked into how it works with 1.85:1 aspect ratios? 130 fov setting might make it possible to see through walls at that ratio. Also, not aware of whether it works properly with valve's FoV restriction setting.

I think the game isn't designed with a high FoV in mind. For example, I can see a high FoV screwing over Spy plays and ninja Scout picks - pretty much anything that relies on blind spots.

Yet Europe's competitive scene proves otherwise...
