Se7enBut if you were considering voting Trump and THIS is what made you do the 180, I'm not sure how I feel about that.

I don't think people are going to swing, as much as this is just going to lower voter turnout for him. This just lowers his enthusiasm for a lot of people and means that he has a few dead weeks before he's fully recovered and ready to try and expand his base so he has a chance, but considering its 4 weeks before the election, he probably can't turn it around in time. This won't cost him votes in his base, but it does make it easier for Hillary to hold her lead because it freezes his campaigning for a while.

The majority of people in this thread are arguing that Clinton is worse than Trump because Clinton is a corrupt liar...and yet Trump is also both of those things + a guy whose economic policies would further destroy the lower and middle class, who would elect supreme court justices that would rip away all basic rights that LGBT people have gained in this country and who would try and make life a living hell for any Muslim that lives in America?

Like what kind of mental gymnastics do u have to go through to convince urself Hillary is worse than Trump lol.

he's not responsible for the HIV rates, but his defunding of PP centers is definitely a contributing factor. It doesn't help that Indiana has terrible drug support programs (which predate Pence, though he deserves blame there too) and heroin is on the rise in a lot of those areas (we've always been more of a meth state)

the HIV 'pandemic' is pretty overblown, which is weird because there are so many better Pence hits out there. How about the RFRA, which was passed despite every major business and social leader in the state, as well as a solid majority of polled inhabitants opposing it due to fears of lost business; fears that ended up being fully justified, as a number of major building projects and conferences were either delayed or cancelled due to the bill being passed, including a complete cancellation of a $40m building project from Angie's List designed to help rejuvenate one of Indy's poorest neighborhoods. Pence refused to listen to pleas to change the law until the front page of the Indy Star carried an article begging him to fix it, and 9 CEO's of the largest companies in the state wrote a joint letter complaining about the act.

Or there's his absolute evisceration of the state's public school funding, opting instead to use much of the money for vouchers for religious and other private schools in the state, as well as his straight up disgusting treatment of Glenda Ritz, the state superintendent of schools. Pence repeatedly stuck his nose into Indiana's education system, though most governors in the past let the superintendent handle nearly all education-related decisions. Pence's bills, all of which Ritz vocally and publicly opposed, have ballooned standardized testing times (and the companies who score those tests, also chosen by Pence, have repeatedly screwed up their handling of the testing, leading to students not having the materials needed or entire tests being lost), lowering certification standards for new teachers (despite Indiana already having extremely low school performance compared to the national average), and entirely restructuring the Indiana Board of Education, removing the State Superintendent from the position of Chair of the State School Board, a position the SSI has held since the school board was created, literally because Ritz is a Democrat.

Pence has always considered being governor of Indiana a stepping stone job, and he has treated the state just like that, a stepping stone under his feet. I am not being facetious when I say he's the worst governor we've ever had. He is actually the worst governor in Indiana state history, and I can't help but think that he'd continue to choose party politics over the will of the people if installed as VP.

Just saying as a guy who thinks they're both terrible, Trump's economic plans will bankrupt the United States and a vote for Trump is essentially a vote for an economy in ruins and an even larger gap between the rich and everyone else.

I don't even care that much about Trump. This election has been over for weeks. I'm just terrified that Pence is going to come out of this cycle looking like a sane person and will actually have a chance in 2020. This can't become the new normal.

HIV is just an issue that's kind of important to me (don't do the shitpost) and just something that makes me think he's a complete dick for closing both PP and needle shares

even with the large numbers of mouthbreather hicks in this state who get all of their political commentary straight from the lips of Hannity himself, I think Pence would have had trouble getting reelected. The economic effects of his time in office have been severe. And while many of those people would just blame Obama like they always do, Pence inherited a state that was admittedly doing very well under another Republican governor and put it in the toilet. Not only that, but he was extremely high-profile while doing it. He definitely would have been challenged. Too bad the Dem candidate is a complete shitbird too.

For any nah sayers out there that think political reform is impossible, just 97 years ago women didn't have the right to vote. So its not impossible, its just a long and arduous process to fix anything on capital hill, and rightfully so. If it was easy, then would any bill or law truly have gravitas? Just food for thought.

Political reform is certainly possible, there are just alot of delusional and misguided ideas on how to accomplish it.

what a stupid thing to post

it's possible to think that both options are fucking awful without the reason being "oh no someone will disagree with me :(" because by not supporting either candidate, everyone disagrees with you.

This so much. Everyone says Clinton lies and Flip-Flops but Trump does the same and every zealot denies it. Both candidates have so much shit surrounding them it's just getting sad instead of shocking.
People just follow some political figure with their heads so far up his/her ass that they can't even smell the shit that is happening and that's how it's always been.
And I'm kinda disturbed to see other Belgians in this thread leaning heavily towards trump whats up with that guys?

LsRainbowsSchweppesif all you get on the election comes from /r/politics I'm not surprised you're trying hard to correct the record here
Thats funny because for months on end I clearly remember /r/politics being desperately anti-clinton and pro-bernie to the point of absurdity
I'd go with a clueless dickhead who can at least learn things from their advisors
if anything this election should have taught you guys so far its that trump cannot listen to advice to save his life, nor does he intend to

Correct, it was, then CTR's spending went from 1 million to 6 million to control naratives online and on social media. Try posting anything pro Sanders, pro Trump or third party now and see what happens on the "neutral political discussion forum"

almost like people from the same country can have different political opinions
for the record I'm not pro Trump whatsoever , I'm just anti Clinton and how she undermined the democratic process by colluding with the media and working with her own party to screw over Sanders. I don't care who you pick, at least try to do it fairly if you're so proud of your history of freedom and democracy. If you're going to do everything to demonize your opponent and take 1984 as a manual you shouldn't be surprised why so many people fucking hate her

Ya because the "neutral political discussion forum" has always been perfectly neutral

http://i.imgur.com/pna9MF4.png

Once again, you guys are absolutely delusional. Nobody complained about "Revolution messaging" when anything pro-clinton and anti-bernie was being downvoted.

The simple explanation is that the forum was largely anti-clinton and pro-bernie before, and now they've mostly switched to anti-trump and pro-hillary. Which was predicted to happen even before the nomination finished. And if a forum is slanted one way, then they won't upvote anything that contradicts that narrative. That's not a conspiracy, that's just how reddit works, it has always been prone to echo chambers.

-5tv-ignorant question ik but what is Trump's appeal?

The same appeal that supposedly outsider politicians are enjoying everywhere in the west. The financial crash of 2008 has left us with falling or stagnant living standards and nobody in the traditional political classes have any solutions to never ending austerity. The way is open for populists peddling easy answers and capitalising on widespread grievances on the right and left to make hay.

Where mainstream established politicians have grown complacent they've fallen to populist demagogues, Brexit, the British labour party, the Republican presidential nomination. Clinton wasn't complacent and used the political machine she had a significant hand in creating to secure her nomination - that's politics, but it's also a stick with which to beat her.

Everyone knows mainstream politicians are hopelessly compromised by industry and vested interests to the extent that in many minds the paradox that a business man would be cleaner because he is openly corrupt makes sense. It's cynicism manifesting to an extreme degree and it's dangerous, but there's nothing on the horizon that looks like breaking the cycle.
