The casting talent definitely needs some. There are a bunch of cases that I remember from CS:GO where people can just literally go up to the analysis desk or casting desk because there is no one stopping them.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZNX_00Hzrxs

This is one example.

-protoWhy does a LAN need security?

It needs security because
- a public event as big as dreamhack needs insurance, and insurers like site security.
- there's quite a lot of electronic equipment lying around that would fetch a pretty penny.
- it's a large gathering of humans, which necessitates crowd control.
- the building very likely does not belong to the dreamhack organizers, and there will be a very long document stipulating how the building is to be used (and when it is not).

Most non-derelict, non-residential buildings are owned by someone who has rules like "everyone out by 9pm". Is this not common sense...?

SmythernykImagine the shitshow if they did this during the cs finals...F1 (one of, if not the, biggest motorsport) sometimes runs out of time on rare occasions, and the event organizers literally say "throw down the checkered flag, right now, and everyone out within 2 hours". Shit like this just happens sometimes. Some sports are even build around having to deal with this being a likely outcome of the competition (though a race has the advantage of always having a guy in 1st place at any given time).

The difference is F1 has this in their regulations, while for DHS this was not and wholly unexpected.

razeso could manipulating the schedule for the I58 invite group and making the perilous/nameless match granary work?

There's no guarantee that the same rosters will be attending i58 (e.g. Mike who can't practice with perilous because of overwatch) so I guess they have to decide if it's better to wait for 2 months and possibly play the game with whatever roster they have @i58 (unlikely imho) or just settle it online.

Well, on the bright side, now community has experience of that kind of interruption and that will be taken in consideration next time

Imo it was just unlucky, i mean who would have tought all the games were going to be that close? If we look at the time the golden cap during the crowns/spanked game and the one during the perilous/nL game game (if i remember correctly idk but there were two long ass GCs yesterday)
took away, it was about 15-16 minutes each, it's like they played an extra full 30 mins map!
The games were really fun to watch it's just really unfortunate it had to end like this.
The comments on r/tf2 were mostly positive, if we leave out the obvious frustration and disappointment due to the premature end.
It was a good lan imo.

Also i will always love WAR for this

They should just play granary as an i58 fundraiser showmatch, maybe let the teams pick one map each to play after as well.

Doubt that the same thing will happen at i58 because there won't be 12 computers for 4 teams
