So today I installed a new hitsound to replace the other custom hitsound I had. For some reason though the default hitsound plays instead of the one I want.

Does anything know how to fix this?

make sure you renamed the file hitsound.wav and that you put it in your tf/custom/userstuff/sound/ui folder

otherwise try re-recording the sound and making sure it's a .wav

There's also quirks with the format of the audio, tf2 only likes mono files at 48KHz apparently though it seems to be inconsistent...

I think Gemmellness might be right. I put back my old hitsound and it was able to work. So apparently the hitsound I wanted to use can't work. Dang

You could always re-render the sound in something like Sony vegas to match the required settings, given you have anything like that to use.
