uh so since i've never been to a byoc lan before and am bringing a laptop, should i buy a laptop lock or something like that or is the venue going to be pretty safe to wander around while leaving my stuff around

i'm probably going to wander around a lot, but i feel like it'd be a pain if i have to pack/unpack all my stuff every time i want to go somewhere

I can't promise that you'll be totally safe, as sometimes people are shitty and steal things. However, when anyone first checks in at the event, you will have a badge printed out that will mark down everything you're bringing. When you leave the venue at any point, security will check your stuff to make sure you aren't leaving with anything you didn't come in with.

If you want to take caution, I would say you should probably take your laptop with you if you'll be gone for multiple hours / going to sleep at the hotel. Otherwise, I think you'll be fine, especially if you have some of your friends/teammates around your stuff.

i felt the same way the first time i went to a lan, one thing i learned don't slap nice stickers on your tower because some douche bag will take them, which is the most random thing someone can take to begin with

If you bought the premature-LANer option, then doors open for those people at 12:01 AM on Friday.

If you did not buy the premature-LANer option, then doors will open for everyone else at 12:01 PM on Friday.

i don't know which one i purchased but i bought my ticket when they first went on sale and that was quite some time ago so i'm guessing thats the premature-LANer one?

No, the premature-LANer option is an additional option that you can buy to get in the event 12 hours earlier than the rest of the general public. It's an additional $15 on top of whatever the ticket price was at the time you purchased the ticket. If you can't remember, check your email and it should show if you purchased the premature-LANer option.

i would like to point out with your current really well thought out schedule nobody can spectate the CEVO LAN finals until theyre 3 hours in.

It is very possible that the CEVO matches will start later than 9, but we just set it to 9 just as a safety net if we feel we need that much time.

I also don't get your passive-aggressive comments throughout this entire thread. I didn't make this schedule, and this is what CEVO set up for the schedule. So, if you have a problem with this "well thought out schedule," then you can personally message them instead of stirring up ridiculous drama publicly. Hell, you can just message me personally instead. That idea is too rational, though.

Schedule has CEVO TF2 starting at 9am. People booking flights and living life on Thursday night need to know if they need to be at the event by 8 am or by 11am Friday.

Also if the CEVO event doesnt start until 12pm then that should be changed on the schedule of events, and if it does start at 12 does that imply that all CEVO players are now early bird whatever.

CEVO-P players themselves (that qualify for our event) are an exception for Friday and will not require a premature lan pass to play @ 9am. The 9am start time is a must and will not be changed....until I have the rest of the CEVO-P matches played...I can't setup your schedules....cough cough but it will be nearly identical to the CSGO one located at this bracket except both Round of 4 matches will be played at the same time and LB Round 1 @ 11:30am

(yes all TF2 matches for CEVO will be bo3)

Us guys coming over from Europe still have no idea what is happening with PC's after people have told us "we'll get them". I've raised a ticket with CEVO to try and talk to someone, no reply. Looking like it'll be a four day piss up for us at the moment. Can anyone who has an idea with what is happening let us know as i'd rather not pack my peripherals if we're not going to have machines to play on. We'd really just like a Yes or No answer from someone now.

Patience and we will reply to you privately about it soon enough...but I would have no worries for your European team but peripherals are ideal and a must regardless as CEVO will not be providing those for anyone anyways

so you're hosting a lan event and then you're going to run the 2 Ro4 games as well as UB finals/LB R1 at the same time. fuck coverage, i like it.

If you allocate the times as I stated, each bo3 sets aside 2.5 hours of time...double check, should be plenty of time for any bo3 in TF2 ;)

Only round not going to be covered is a Ro4 match in CEVO TF2 unless I can somehow magically find a rift in time and gain 2 additional hours in the day plus this is what is needed in order to share the PCs with the CSGO event schedule and run 3 matches at a time (both TF2 and CSGO).

I prefer not to make you guys play into 2, 3, 4am...as of right now, we are looking at a 10/11pm finish Friday with no problems

Its unfortunate there isn't more time, but this is an issue that's plagued every LAN. Every single LAN we've had in TF2 we've wanted to see more than what was played. The GXL schedule is a little tight, for both CEVO and I'm sure Fragile's schedule for the community LAN, but it's the best we can do in the circumstances.
