General Aladeen: Why are you guys so anti-dictators? Imagine if America was a dictatorship. You could let 1% of the people have all the nation's wealth. You could help your rich friends get richer by cutting their taxes. And bailing them out when they gamble and lose. You could ignore the needs of the poor for health care and education. Your media would appear free, but would secretly be controlled by one person and his family. You could wiretap phones. You could torture foreign prisoners. You could have rigged elections. You could lie about why you go to war. You could fill your prisons with one particular racial group, and no one would complain. You could use the media to scare the people into supporting policies that are against their interests.

My biggest problem is that a lot of very religious people in power who believe their own personal life decisions and morals should be everyone's. I see absolutely nothing wrong with people having faith in a religion, it's just when their views led them to be incredibly conservative and when that causes others hardship then I see the problem. Ie Texas anti-abortion law.
N.B I'm neither for nor against America as a whole, I think it has achieved some great things however I think it has some major flaws. But yeah, just my POV

for me, im am so thankful to live in a safe place, but then again, there are many things that are scary. for example, we had a lockdown drill at my HS, and our teacher was explaining that it is in place b/c of Sandy Hook, and if a shooter was to come on campus, etc. That was frightening. That we live in a country where semi automatic rifles are only 500-1000 dollars. Also our government is pretty fucked up.

i'm gonna assume you live in a small town; i had 3 lockdowns in my 8th grade year because people were bringing guns to school and to the neighboring highschool

I'm in my 8th year of higher education and about 2 weeks away from getting my Masters in American Studies with a focus on race and gender. The more I study native country, the more I want to cry. There are days when I have to close all books and not read anything for school because if I read one more thing about the horrible practices the government has instituted against its own people, I will spiral into a deep depression. But once I open a book again, I invariably see people resisting. No matter what horrible time era in my country's history

The one thing that really sticks out about the government is the 8 years and you're done. Doesn't make sense... That's really not enough time to accomplish anything over the course of a career in politics. Many countries have the advantage in that they can have a solid long term plan and commit to it. All America's politicians are in it for is 8 years of trying to make the media happy. China didn't overtake you overnight.

DrPloxoKingFrostingMy first opinion will be stop saying "America" like is just the U.S, AMERICA IS THE WHOLE CONTINENT!No, North America is the continent.
South America is the second part of a super-continent.
America is the abbreviation because the majority of large scale unions have smaller states in a larger national state. Much like the UK is usually called Great Britain.

In the U.S they teach you that north america is a continent, but in my country is the whole thing, so google it.

5 people didn't agree with what you wrote, it's not an issue, I expect more from the creator of Comp.tf.

Anyways, I really feel the greatest issue in the U.S. is obviously the lack of education. So many people don't even understand the basics of the laws they are disapproving against, and acting as if the world revolves them. We complain that politicians are destroying us, but we're so stupid that we let them.

I generally deal in European history. That said, it could drive a man to alcoholism.

However, I attended university in the US - so I had to take a lot of US history. That too can drive a man to alcoholism. I can fully agree with what Kip says - a lot of the time you just have to take a break and have a stiff drink.

Every place has its problems, things that it could easily do better, horrible things certain people have done - good and bad people to this day. I just tend to ignore nationality altogether - I could have just as easily been born in any other place - I just lucked out and managed to get into one that's relatively peaceful.

frknBolsheviki live in southern indiana, and if someone from abroad were to visit my area and my area only they would simply see the u. s. of a. as a homophobic, conservative, "jeezuz luvin gun totin" sort of country. a lot of the stereotypes come from areas like mine. But do people from abroad actually visit Southern Indiana? lol

A handful of foreign exchange students got stuck in my high school every year. The ones who were even semi outgoing (which was most of them) got tons of friends and become the most popular kids in the class. Then again, I basically pretended that the walking stereotypes in my school didn't exist so if anybody gave them shit I didn't pay attention to it. Pretty sure in general, though, our high school loved foreign exchange students. Especially the ones from Germany.

I think you could argue about a lot of bad stuff that america has, and several problems in many levels, but in my opinion I'm glad the US has been on top up until now. The other superpowers are weird.

America is too conservative....okay yah I agree that religion skews peoples minds into outlawing things such as abortion but conservatives are what keep this country free. Liberals want to outlaw the ownership of guns and make our government have more power than it already does and the conservatives are really the only ones slowing that process. And lets just forget about that $15T that we owe china and spend even more money. Fcking Obama logic. This country has some major issues and I'm not even sure I'm going to want to live here in 10 years. Hopefully we can get our shit together and our gov doesn't collapse or worse.
