i had plans to bring my monitor but I found out tonight that none of my bags are big enough to fit my benQ. Can anyone let me borrow their 120hz monitor until LAN is over?

obviously, I would want as good of a monitor as possible(less input lag) but any 120hz would be better than what I would have.

thanks! i would be very grateful

i found the original box for it with styrofoam and everything. do you guys think I would be able to just tape it up and check it, safely?

Take out an insurance claim on it before you do anything.

be sure to stuff that thing full of clothes or anything soft to absorb shock from the assholes throwing shit around. I had a computer in a suit case with as many clothes as would fit and it still ended up getting dented. so be careful.

If all you have is the original box then I'd discourage it. I've had more than a few overseas trips and when I didn't carry on electronics I'd make sure to put them in an inconspicuous suitcase that supported a padlock. I can guarantee you that the box is too big to count as a carryon too; the max size was pretty small when I last went overseas in 2010 and the rules seem to get more stringent every year.

I had my 120hz with me at i46 and the only thing that happened during the flight was that the casing opened a bit from the corner. Had it in luggage, wrapped a towel around it and clothes on top and bottom. So it's really all about luck.

I have a second monitor that you could use. Only a couple months old but not the highest spec and definitely not 120hz

Well they are providing me with a monitor so that isn't really the issue. Just wanting something better and more like what I'm used to

I transport my monitor (and whole PC excluding KB Mouse etc) in a large suitcase with a very hard shell. I grabbed the polystyrene from the original monitor packaging, put that in the suitcase so the monitor sat nicely. Then placed towels and clothing on all sides to add a bit more padding. The suitcase was solid though, I think if I straight up jumped on it the front wouldn't bend inwards.

it was a pretty big suitcase and maybe too large for some flights, but a smaller one should be able to hold the monitor safely. Would insure though.

Aporia, sheep and myself all brought our monitors from Australia (re: ~30 hour transit total). The only one that was moderately damaged was mine, since my bag was quite smaller than both theirs, and I didn't protect it as well. The only thing that got damaged was the stand (not the base), so a little bit of plastic snapped off - no big deal.

Just jam a bunch of clothes/padding on/around it and you should be fine.

Well I am already on my way so it is way too late for that. But I would have to bought a new bag, mine is way too small.

How much did you pay for the extra luggage to take the moniter Yuki? Would it have been possible to bring PC parts in hand luggage and rebuild in England? (I'm moving to Belgium and considering that). oh and with Qantas?
