Games are lagging

My laptop died because I tried to update the drivers, so I got it fixed and restored to factory settings.

Now, I get constant lag in the game.

Frames are fine and nothing has changed about my internet, so that's fine too.
I doubt there's anything wrong with the servers, since this issue is in matches, scrims, MGE, etc.

No random junk files lying around since I just got this laptop back, but I ran a check to confirm it.
No malware or anything of the sort either.

I never run anything in the background when I'm in-game (except for Steam), and the only thing that takes up memory is TF2.

Never had this issue before, usually I lag when this thing's overheating (which gives me >10 frames) or if my internet goes berserk. This time it's different.

I know nearly nothing about computers, so I don't know if any of this will help:
I use a Toshiba laptop, with Intel graphics and all that. 8 GB RAM, i7-5500 2.4 GHz

This laptop's died four times already, and every time I revert it to factory settings, I could run the game fine.

No, I will not get a new computer, because I'm a poor college student :(
Hopefully in the future.

Please help.

Don't PM me after half a day and please stop recommending that.

Chances are that:
- timezones are a thing
- weekends are a thing
so maybe I just haven't seen the thread yet or just didn't have time yet.

If it's been 2 or 3 days and I'm not on a vacation, sure, but have a little patience before that.

Since you say your ping and fps are fine I'd like to see a screenshot with net_graph 4 of when you lag.

I'm really sorry Setsul.

Here's the screenshots with net_graph 4; had a guy tell me when I lagged and when I experienced it myself:

The ping is pretty average for servers close to me, and the frames are pretty normal for me too.

lolmikesInstall Manjaro

You got the Linux meme wrong. Its install Gentoo. (Also I have done it, its not worth the pain in the ass of having to custom compile your kernel from the ground up and waiting for 3+ hours for it to install)

As for fixing your fps with a factory reset some info on your operating system and what got installed with that factory reset would be nice. (I have seen thous "recovery" partitions load the computer up with a bunch of junk ware from the factory. It really pisses me off that manufactures STILL install bloatware on their computers. Why would you ruin a users experience on their new computer???)

Why are you using 40 for updaterate and cmdrate?

Also what's your "rate" setting?

Either the ping spikes or choke due to low rate is causing some major extrapolation.

Please tell me you aren't on WiFi.

I'm using the "bad connection" options in Comanglia's config, since my internet service is garbage. I can't afford to add $30/month to upgrade to a better plan.

rate is 35000

Have to use WiFi, because I don't want a 10 meter cable across my place. My router and its cables are fixed in another room (by Charter), and to drag around a computer (even though it's a laptop) every time I have to do work or play video games is pretty inconvenient. Basically, if I move to another room, then I'd have to readjust two rooms like I'm moving. That much work doesn't seem worthwhile.

So you know you have a bad connection, are on WiFi and still wonder why you are lagging?

There is no magical fix for this, you have the worst possible connection and even a simple fix like a cable is too much work for you. There really isn't anything I can do to help you.

If at least your speed isn't completely garbage (>1 Mbit/s) you could try
cl_cmdrate 66
cl_updaterate 66
rate 100000
and cl_interp somewhere above 0.035.

I didn't think my connection was the issue, because my ping is normal for me and this setting never caused problems for me before.

can confirm wifi sucks dick for gaming
my uni only has wifi (puke) and whenever people are streaming netflix in the room over (common room with big tv is right next to mine) my connection goes to shit
should i change my interp/stuff even if the wifi is relatively good (100+mbps down and up, <40 ping to chi usually, occasional ping spikes to 100ish)?

SetsulDoes that mean it helped at least a little bit?

Yeah, you basically confirmed how shit my ISP is, which is part of what I needed: verification; instead of me imagining how bad it is and trying to sugarcoat the issue with what I feel is okay, you confirmed that it's absolute garbo.
