This is great -- the most important feature it should have at launch imo is automatic balancing of lobbies, that will provide you guys with a clear point of difference with tf2c (and make lobbies more fun overall!).

I'll just leave this here: http://www.vanillatf2.org/2014/08/zen-and-the-art-of-balancing-a-lobby/

Not sure if anyone has mentioned this but I really like the idea of being able to choose your class before you enter the lobby.

vibhavpBLoodSireThe level of talent in this community continues to blow my mind, as well as make me feel weak and inferior, like that time I sat on 4G's bench for 5 years. Great work.
Don't worry, we already have plans for Danford:Respawn lobbies - 6v6 Sniper only matches with The Classic rebuffed to it's utmost former glory https://static-cdn.jtvnw.net/emoticons/v1/25/1.0

Don't toy with my emotions. 6v6 sniper with a functional Classic is basically how I spent 1999-2007 in TFC.

I'm really hoping that this will get to be a thing, but I'm still concerned that this will basically become another tf2pug.me instead of what tf2center was. I think the idea is great, but more than anything it would be amazing if it could completely replace tf2center as the 'bridge' between competitive and pubs.

I think it needs to be 'advertised' at other places where less experienced players reside.... maybe even reddit.
If this is only 'advertised' on teamfortress.tv, this without a doubt will just become another place to get fatkidded by the good players.

People can only be fat kidded from captained pugs. Not having these be captained will greatly increase play-ability for players of all skill levels.

you can do that in TF2C as well but you can't choose a specific team though

Yeah I just realized that today actually. Center doesn't make it very clear that you can though, and I think it just puts you on a random team so what Stadium has going looks a bit better ui wise.

I'm gonna be honest and say there's no reason for me to try this site out if there won't be some kind of elo/past division played system for this new site. The main problem I see after playing centers is that you get a medic with no lobbies played with 500 hours into the game, and a team that is very stacked on the other team with their combo classes compared to the team with the med that is just getting into lobbies, so he figured he'd play med because why not? All you gotta do is press m1 and move around a bit right? Well he doesnt understand that, so you need a good demo/heavy on your team to balance it out. Usually you'll get good pick classes but sometimes that isn't enough. The balancing is my only complaint with tf2center, and if you can improve on that in some way, I will and many others will replace tf2c with a new site.

I've had a spy on my team that had 0 points after the first half on pl_badwater
I've had an engineer that never built teleporters or dispensers on pl_badwater offense
I've had a pan heavy that gave sandviches to the enemy team all game on koth_viaduct_prowhatever
I've had scouts who still have 75 fov and who can barely get a kill

and all of the above was only after about 2 weeks of playing tf2center

I'm not trying to hate on new players because we've all been there. God knows how terrible I was at rocket jumping when I started playing comp soldier (im still bad at rocket jumping HEH), but there really needs to be some kind of system so you get balanced teams and where those 1-2 new players on your team won't be a nuisance because the rest of your team will be balanced.

I'll probably tryout tf2stadium for a bit when it gets released, but ultimately go back to tf2c because I don't have a real reason to stop playing on a service I know usually works. That is, if I join a team that isn't full of newer players + its mumble required.

Muma...

are you trying to say im wrong or something? I honestly don't see a reason to leave tf2c because I couldn't care less about the drama. I don't play tf2c to get better, I play because I want to easily and quickly play a 6s or hl game since tf2 doesn't have mm like what dota/cs has. I'm to busy with life to join a team, so I only play centers or rarely inhouse if I want to tf2. Without eventually adding an elo system for a new lobby site idk man I just don't see the point.

and you cant deny that there are other people who have the same mindset as me. Advanced lobbies cost money/keys to play in and from what I've seen they never actually start. Having something like an elo/rank whatever thing going on will carry people like me onto a new site who just want to hop into a game in less than 15-20 min.

retrogradealsoedyI honestly don't see a reason to leave tf2cedyif the new site has this and this I will leave tf2cmore contradiction

Just because you're leaving out implied words in your paraphrasing doesn't mean his reasoning is wrong; it seems your understanding of the term 'contradiction' is wrong.

I don't see a reason to leave shop x to shop at shop y because they carry the same products but shop x is near me.
If shop y carried products I've been looking for which shop x doesn't and they deliver to my doorstep, I would stop shopping at shop x in favour of shop y.

Seems perfectly logical to me. Whether you agree with his opinion or not is a different matter, but there is nothing wrong with his logic.

classicA big problem with tf2c is that its often a roll because of people stacking lobbies. I would suggest making all lobbies played on tf2stadium more pug-esque by randomizing teams after everyone picks their class. Maybe set up an elo system as well to assist in balancing teams?

I feel like people would take it more seriously this way and you wouldn't get people that are afraid to add up because they're scared its gonna be another group of people stacking or players alting or something.

Noticing recent posts about balancing in tf2c I'd like to reiterate my earlier suggestion of balancing teams after classes have been selected.

I'd also like to elaborate on an elo system to be used. Its a simple unrefined idea i had to balance the teams based off of each individual's win% on the class they have selected. The tf2 player rankings system that tf2c uses with its advanced lobbies is flawed in that players of various skill levels can basically farm dpm/kdrs by stacking teams against players they see have no comp experience. Balancing it off of this data would be stupid, so just take from the best determinant of individual skill: whether or not you can help win with a randomized team(ie without your personal tf2 friends stacking against noobies) on your class.

I may be looking over some inherent flaw, but to me it seems like the best way to rank players because it shows that you know how to be a team player on your class as well as contribute positively to the team's environment(generally the team that has a yelling match with eachother in tf2c mumble doesn't win).

Not really sure how interested tf2stadium is in implementing something like this into their current site because it sounds like a pain in the ass to code or whatever but i think its something that would give people that feel like edy does the motivation to play there. I'm sure there's more people that share his opinions that play tf2c reluctantly.

I would like to cover in the blog topics people are particular interested in, is there anything people would like to know from one of the developers perspective? This can be anything, starting from architectural decisions to anything else you have in mind.

Just a quick update: We got a bit of feedback on both this post and the steam discussion that some people would prefer a dark theme, while others liked the white theme. Well, while our backend devs are chugging along with making everything work, our resident graphic designer Capu has created a dark theme so you can game with your fragile eyes upon release.

http://i.imgur.com/nJ9yC1A.jpg

We plan to always be listening to your feedback! There will also be a blog post on our developer blog within the next few days explaining all the technologies that are going into the site, so stay on the lookout for that.

Also, like schalla said, if you have anything you'd like to read about on our blog, please tell us so we can write stuff that is actually relevant. See schalla's comment above for info.

Anyways, keep it up and I know my voice isn't alone in saying this is going to be amazing and 100x better than what TF2C could bring to the table.
