#13 Is Valve overcomplicating weapon stats? in TF2 General Discussion

people are into hearthstone and that game has some pretty wonky card mechanics and there's quite a large number of cards. Granted its a card game not a fps, but its a similar concept. FPS games probably benefit more from being simple, but a majority of tf2 weapons are silly and gimmicky anyways just like a majority of hearthstone cards are gimmicky and not used in professional play.

CryptoC'thun decks are actually pretty insane. All the cards that buff c'thun aren't understatted at all, the 3 mana 2/1 deal 2 damage give c'thun +2/+2 etc are all really really solid cards.

Also, all the cards that have a condition related to c'thun such as the priest 5 mana 6/5 get +10 health if cthun has 10 attack are SO easy to trigger, getting c'thun to 10 attack is so trivial, especially for all the power effects that require it. You can basically just play a 2 drop and a 3 drop on curve with good stats and bam cthun is at 10 attack.

I can see c'thun decks doing really well against control decks and rushier decks to kill c'thun decks before they can play c'thun/that 7 mana 2 4/6 taunts will crop up a lot imo

Honestly the c'thun decks curve out so well and are so focused on control anyways that its not even control decks that counter them. The only thing that beats another c'thun deck from what i've seen is another c'thun deck that had better draws. Its honestly just stupid to me tbh. The only reason I see myself losing this update is that someone unpacked better c'thun cards than me with either bought or the free packs. I wasn't lucky enough to unpack the 4/2 divine shield minion or the 7/6 6 drop. The most common match-up has been c'thun vs c'thun deck and between those two, whoever gets c'thun in his hand first wins.

RainmanI don't know what she's going on about with "her culture". The shitty truth is that the vast majority of indigenous Africans that were brought to America didn't/couldn't bring their culture. To illustrate, slaves were taken from all different kinds of peoples and places, all of which had their respective customs. So the culture/religion/customs that Africans may have had was lost. Other peoples (Germans/Chinese/Arabians/etc.) who did emigrate to America did so willingly and were able to bring their culture with them. That's why you really see a lack of long-standing tradition with African-Americans today.

There's actually a good number of literary sources that reference the "African" culture that some black people adopt in America
http://xroads.virginia.edu/~ug97/quilt/walker.html
This piece in particular encapsulates the idea well. Alice Walker disliked the trend of people "Identifying" as African because the cultural emphasis in most African cultures is your family name. Your named carried the spirit of you ancestors and these people were just changing their names to sound more "culturally appropriate"

IncoI am interested by the Ship of Theseus. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ship_of_Theseus

You have a hammer. The head breaks, so you put on a new one. A while later the handle breaks, so you replace the handle. Is it the same hammer you started with?

Late reply but this is by far my favorite paradox/philosophical thing to argue about nowadays. We're reaching a point scientifically where we'll be able to do complete brain transplants and I'm thinking this one might have real world implications some time soon. Is it our consciousness that makes us who we are or perhaps a combination of our physicality with it. We'll have to wait and see

ceci n'est pas une pipe is not so much a paradox but a statement about what art is.

#42 Why Are These Unlocks Banned? in TF2 General Discussion
Charles32Tevsis saying that a weapon is 'annoying' a good argument to ban?

Why do we ban? Should we only consider how OP it is to a stock weapon?

What criteria should (also, what criteria is being used now) we use to ban?

As far as banning weapons goes you should consider all weapons "innocent" until proven "guilty"

If you really want to know what ridiculous weapons are truly op just look at the highlander whitelist. They are generally the experts on dealing with stupid bullshit.

#37 Please stop the hate in TF2 General Discussion

You just posted in the mass shooting thread earlier today about how dumb americans are for having guns. You seem like the kind of person that talks a lot about something they know little of.

I have 0 involvement with tf2 except for watching it but you just seem like a huge cunt from what I've seen on the forums

sheepy_dogs_handI don't know what the deal is with you americans and your guns im getting people adding me on steam shouting insults to me because I don't think there is any point to owning a gun. If america just make all guns illegal less people are going to get murdered that must be a fact. Why do people want to keep the legal when making them illegal must do more good than harm. I think they should only be used for the army and special armed police forces. I believe this would be the best thing for america to do. It seems the most logical way and even Obama was begging you guys to listen to reason and just let go of your precious guns.

You have little to no reading comprehension abilities. There are so many illegal firearms already circulating the US black market that placing stricter gun ownership laws on law abiding citizens would be catastrophic. Armed criminals would be more effective and these mass shootings would occur more frequently if there were more places they could go without fear of anyone shooting back. The original intention of our second amendment was to allow the people to form a militia if necessary to fight back tyrannical oppression, but in today's society its necessary for us to own guns for combating criminals and psychopaths.

American mass shootings aren't a gun control issue, they are a mental health issue.

sheepy_dogs_handScrewballRussia banned guns and has 3x the homicide rate.
Yeah but thats because of the people in russia. Why not look for countries who aren't russia. Maybe the UK for example. Or whatever other countries have strict gun laws and how they no longer have frequent mass shootings in schools/public and violence in gangster areas. Black gangsters killing each other more because of how easy it acquire guns. If people wanna kill people so badly they will. but guns make it easier so if they are banned then less people will die.

There is no good reason for guns to be allowed. They are machines used to make it easier to kill people. There is no good reason for someone other than the police to carry them. Also killing animals for fun is disgusting, Please america get rid of your guns. They are doing so much more harm that good,

You're not only uneducated about the situation but you're also bigoted.

Fact: 93% of guns used in crimes are obtained illegally (i.e., not at gun stores or gun shows). 37

Also in your precious UK home invasion numbers shot straight up when you guys banned guns.. Do you realize why people target schools, hospitals, and the likes for these mass shootings? People in there are unarmed, just like some guy with a knife breaking into your apartment where you have no weapons to defend yourself with because the government knows what's best for you

HighclassVortexalso highclass heavy is a pleasant dude but the fact he himself would play an incredible amount of heavy in 6s games seems to show a personal bias justifying excessive offclassing
I appreciate the kind words, although assuming I offclass heavy because of my alias is a little disheartening. I currently sit at 22 hours of Heavy played, only beaten by 21 hours of spy. I dont really offcass very much as I enjoy the meta of 6s.

i hate to be that guy but http://logs.tf/1058108

realistically the rule should just be better written ie no offclassing if you add up as anything other than scout/roamer.
