gamebattles is pretty bad imo, but that's only because i spent 3 years of playing on it just to get matches ruined by idiots who dispute matches
DaggerThe use of any communications other than what is provided within the game is strictly prohibited. For example, the use of Skype or private chatting during a match is not allowed.
This has been a rule for so long throughout gamebattles. It definitely needs to removed for most PC games.
There are exceptions to this rule in which outside communication can be utilized. These exceptions include:
Games that give you no advantage by using outside communication
Games that do not have an in-game voice option
Games in which the rules specifically state that outside communication is allowed
Pretty sure TF2 would qualify for that, and if not, we could explain to them that pretty much everyone in comp TF2 uses Mumble.

In game voice in TF2 has a more of a delay than mumble so using mumble would be considered an advantage.
Edit: thanks for clearing that up z4ch.

especially since this is a ladder situation, push for 1v1 scout, 1v1 soldier, ultiduo, and 6s.

For now we're just discussing 6v6, we'll talk about highlander, ultiduo, bball, mge, etc. later.

This will be interesting... a ladder system is something that people have wanted for a while.
Just played a 1v1 match, we just mged three times lol
wouldn't you still need to get sponsors to go to this LAN?

Yeah that was interesting. No way of knowing who you are actually playing vs, and I can't figure out how to get my steam id on my profile. Only way I knew who it was against was because I saw ffs in this thread lol.

Protatono cash pot unless we reach the pro circuit
What does it take to reach pro circuit?

Protatoyou have to be as popular as games like dota, lol, and sc2
http://www.majorleaguegaming.com/seasons - shows all the games in the pro circuit for last seasons
Well... that's not gonna happen in this life.

is MLG able to have casters physically be with each other during casts? that would be so sick if they did
As a side note, I think it would be beneficial if people stopped acting like snotty cunts about other games, MLG as a league, the admins etc. Bashing COD and Halo stopped being funny years ago. It's not making you look good and it's not making the community look good. The guys over at MLG seem to be serious about adding TF2 to their lost of games and Xen seems to be willing to listen to us so the least you guys could do is show some respect since we're gonna be working with them.
Obviously this doesn't apply to everyone.

quite a long shot, but i sent an email to the tf team asking if they were aware/would mention it at all on the teamfortress site

The system isn't quite ready for prime time atm, maybe hold off for a few days?

Why does MLG want to add TF2 over Counter Strike? Do they just not like the game?

It's probably because of that poll response from way back. Also, CS is a lot more like CoD than TF2 is, so there's probably some "Oh, that's the worse version of CoD" over there when they hear the name CS.

If it's an invitational MLG event, not even sort of
Most MLG players DO have sponsors, seeing as how they make more money that way, but as far as I remember MLG pretty much covers costs for all top-level/invite players that come to their events; including travel, boarding and food and drink and what not

I recommend utilising the parts of MLG there, use 1v1 for finding MGE vs people of (supposedly) similar skill, 2v2 for ultiduo and 6v6 for scrims, it has a ladder system, use it! Don't just not use it because it's not on the pro series or whatever, it will only get there after a bit of time and effort and them knowing we have interest in tf2 at MLG.
