I believe that RGL has run its course and a new league would probably give this game a little jolt, perhaps pushing it to a next level in the realm of competitive gaming

NEW LEAGUE RULES:
1. Format:
Prior to their match, each team decides on their ideal format, including round timer length, class limits, weapon whitelist, map pool etc. Each team nominates one player to present a case for their format to a jury of 6s and highlander players, pubbers, tf2 youtubers, valve employee and people who only play mvm. The jury must come to a unanimous decision on which format is chosen for the match.
2. Throwing Matches:
Before each match, teams decide whether their goal is to lose or win the match. If one team achieves their goal, then they are awarded points in the league table. If both teams achieve their goal, neither team gets points. If neither team achieves their goal, both teams get points. Communication of your team's goal to any person not on your team before the match is over is a permabannable offense.
3. Cheating:
Instead of employing an anti-cheat team, cheating bans are decided by public vote. Presenting evidence of a player cheating or not cheating in any form will be considered an attempt to sway the vote and will result in a permaban from the league.
4. Harassment:
Slurs pertaining to a player's race, ethnicity, religion, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability or age are pick/ban.

I think the focus should be on fixing what's wrong with an existing solution rather than throwing away all of the progress that's been made so far.

What sorts of changes do you want from RGL that they aren't already providing?
Because to be quite frank, the amount of work required to start a new league wouldn't be worth it, and would take a very long time to reach the success that RGL has had starting from the ground up.
You have to consider:
- The staffing
- The platform
- The rulesets
- The public relations (social media, casting)
- The MONEY and investors/sponsors
- LAN events
- Anticheat
These might seem rudimentary to some of you but the amount of blood, sweat and tears put into the organization of these things shouldn't be undermined.

i think the goal should be working towards making bans completely unnecessary. good enough anti-cheat and word/name filters would mean we could just unban everyone and have as many competitors as possible. disagree with the political views of your opponent? drop their med.

letting toxic & bigoted people participate actually decreases the player count, not increases

mustard is correct, season 1 of RGL 6s had a $5k prizepool for invite and every team got a cut. compared to s13 it was about ~$4k and only top 4 got a cut.
