It's not about splitting the community, it's about who shows up and actually does the work. There's coverage of i61 because essentials.tf is making it happen.

It just worries me that despite actively following the scene I had no idea this was happening on the essentials twitch until now, and that's 3 days before the event starts. Someone that doesn't follow that much might not know, and I think it would be wrong for me not to be concerned about that.
Obviously I don't know the situation and I'm sure there's a great justification for them to want to do it under another banner but from the outside perspective I can't help but just wonder why it's not just blobbed into one big org, given that it looks like the same casting/observer talent as seen in tftv, though I'm sure the people I don't recognise are also great at things.

For me personally, I'm often trying to tell my friends that maybe don't watch any tf2 but watch csgo or LoL and that, where they can watch tf2 content and it's easier in word of mouth to advertise one brand compared to two. Probably should have been a bit less callous in my wording originally, but I think it's worth discussing because I'm sure I can't be the only person who had no idea.

Won't tf.tv just host the essentials stream anyway?

I am sure TFTV will, the lack of activity on here may be lended to the fact TFTV are not covering.the event but i would expect "the home of competitive TF2" to provide some form of coverage even if its just reposting other people's work on their website since this is the biggest LAN event in our calander despite the lack of NA teams.

You and me both man.

also on the topic of "Biggest LAN in out calendar", i61's looking to be the biggest LAN since i52 when it comes to teams signed up.

lethwhy isnt it going to be on tf.tv when all others have?

go watch the last essentials podcast where this is answered pretty well by wolf, but essentially (XD!!!!) my interpretation of it is that no-one in tftv stepped up to manage the event, and the people who did step up were involved with essentials and preferred to use their own org to get the full end-to-end stuff giving them a lot more freedom to develop new stuff and get sponsors and the like.

RussianGuyovichWill it be added to the Upcoming Events schedule? Last night's cup wasn't.

events are added on a case-by-case basis at the moment. i THINK it will be. the cup got permission to be put up as an event but no-one wrote something for it and i got up at 3pm on saturday and sunday so i didnt do it either

oJWon't tf.tv just host the essentials stream anyway?

weird politics shit fucks stuff up atm with the orgs still technically being competitors and fighting over scraps of a dead game. cross promotion and brand-image are still relevant for some reason. hence hosting is on a case-by-case basis same as the events stuff

This is pretty minor compared to i49's coverage, and even then some extensive collaboration happened. Adding it to the events and hosting the stream isn't asking for much.

Have to say, it does feel somewhat under marketed

As great as the coverage will probably be.

At the very least getting an article out saying "Such and such team is attending, they will be playing 25th-27th August, Essentials tf will have the rest of the news go there" would be nice.

As someone that doesn't really follow TF2 anymore I was looking forward to iseries but you have to go digging through forum posts to figure out its definitely happening.

This is exactly what I worried about, I really hope this doesn't happen because this kind of infighting does nothing but hurt the scene, and for what reason?

All I can say is that it would be a total disappointment if you guys didn't work together on this, especially if as Hildreth said it's projected to be one of the biggest events.

When tftv staff aren't organising then they're outsiders to the key information just like you are.

Also Multiplay has had some significant internal reorganisation this year, it appears communication isn't as smooth as it once was as we all saw from the delayed announcement of the tournament itself, and things like tournament format need to be cleared with them.

There are a lot of reasons why information might be slow to come out, the more parties are involved the more scope for delays and confusion there is.

there's nothing wrong with 55 and 58, I'm just mentioning that i61 isn't some random LAN, it's still the biggest LAN for this year and you should atleast acknowledge its existence atleast once or twice, like it's literally starting in 4 days and unless you've been following essentials social media, you might not even know it's even happening

I would expect a lot more information to be on the main tf2 competitive site than there currently is, but its fair to say essentials arent doing any better. Even though they're hosting there's literally nothing to be found on their website about i61 other than the twitch embed - no news or info or anything
