#1 TF2 update for 6/26/18 in TF2 General Discussion

Via the new HLDS:

Valve- Added tournament/community medals for HLMixes, Hydro.tf, Ready Steady Pan Season 4, and Blapature
- Tweaked Competitive Mode MMR calculations
- MMR mobility increased somewhat across the board
- Players who have high game counts relative to the rest of the player base should see fewer adjustments of 1 or 0 MMR
- Updated pl_enclosure_final to fix a displacement hole in stage two
- Updated Test Run items such that the discount is not valid if the item is already on sale in the Mann Co. Store
- Updated the models for The Frontier Djustice, The Rotation Sensation, and the Elf Esteem to fix display problems with unusual effects
- Fixed some currencies not properly calculating the Test Run discount, which prevented being able to purchase the item
- Updated the localization files

Rumor has it:

- You guessed it, localization made possible in part by contributions from Translators Like You - Thank You: https://github.com/SteamDatabase/GameTracking-TF2/commit/be0c938934c54db3d6f27070ec36b8d1f162ab85

- The remaining two likely related to EU GDPR protobufs that were present in both Portal 2 and Dota 2 but were not present with an inclusion in the 6/7/18 update have now found their way in to TF2 today

- Wait, what, the new HLDS? If you missed the email Valve sent you, they've tossed out their self-hosted GNU Mailman box that the HLDS mailing list (and its derivatives) was on, in favor of a cloud provider (Simplelists). If you were previously a subscriber to the old list, you must resubscribe to HLDS to continue getting messages
- If you tried to sign up in the first hour or so a few weeks ago but weren't able to due to subscription limits, you should be able to try again successfully

#1 CS:GO PRERELEASE update for 6/25/18 in CS2 General Discussion

Via the CS:GO blog:

ValveThe following changes are now available for testing in the Panorama CS:GO Beta Depot for Windows users.

– Repeatedly tapping the bomb resets the defuse UI timer properly.
– While spectating the bomb defuser, switching to another player no longer plays the ‘defuse failed’ fade-out animation for the defuse UI.
– ‘Buy Menu’ and ‘Use’ key bindings and will now go back one level in the buy menu instead of always closing. This matches the old behavior.
– Fixed an issue with upper/lowercase letters in some languages.
– Fixed team select music continuing to play after a disconnect.
– Updated crosshair style 0 and 1 to match the scaleform versions better.
– Updated the gradient background of the health and ammo on the hud a bit.

– Chat:
— Added gradient backgrounds to hud chat panels and reduced drop-shadow for that text.
— The chat history window is now more translucent.

– Scoreboard:
— Added ability to choose scoreboard stat for sorting by clicking on label.
— Fixed issue with resetting of some stats when the match was restarted.
— Fixed round survivor pips panel getting cropped in certain resolutions.

#1 CS:GO PRERELEASE update for 6/21/18 in CS2 General Discussion

[GAMEPLAY]
– Updated the radar player icons to make them a bit more crisp.
– Fixed team flags not working properly in spectator view.
– Fixed truncated team names in the spectator screen that tried to use team flags.

– Fixed some javascript exceptions.
– Reduced width of the scoreboard in Competitive mode.
– Loadout radial wheel team icon can now toggle teams.
– Added unusual item tile to case opening scroll.
– Fixed some crashes when playing demos with high timescale values.

Rumor has it:

- A reminder:

ValveIf you have feedback or want to report a bug in Panorama UI, email CSGOTeamFeedback [at] valvesoftware.com, and include #PanoramaUI in your subject line.

- Guess what? GameTracking now does branches (or, at least /u/xPaw made it do this one)! You can check out exactly what got moved where by heading here: https://github.com/SteamDatabase/GameTracking-CSGO/commit/ecaea7aa4c84944e40fa54d457f0d86c185b2c0c

#1 CS:GO update for 6/12/18 (1.36.3.8) in CS2 General Discussion

Via the CS:GO blog:

Valve[GAMEPLAY]
– Reduced base damage of the CZ75a from 33 to 31 (a single shot is no longer lethal against a helmeted opponent).
– Increased reserve ammo for the M4A1-S from 40 to 60, to provide some additional utility without impacting brief engagements.
– Reduced price of the MP7 from $1700 to $1500.

[MISC]
– Game servers will no longer print their public IP address in response to “status” command from clients.
– Unsealed graffiti items can now be deleted.
– Fixed a bug where looping sounds playing from dormant entities could play briefly before switching off.

[MAPS]
Mirage:
– Removed skybox limitations
– Updated some landmark art
– Lowered skillceiling to get into apartments from T spawn
– Banked corner in hallway leading to A site scaffolding
– Removed ladder near entrance to apartments from T spawn, replaced with boxes
– Removed broken corner near van in bombsite B
– Improved visibility from T side of mid towards A connector (removed dark background door inside connector)
– Improved visibility from CT stairs towards T ramp in bombsite A (removed dark background door inside ramp)
– Disabled bullet collision on vertical fence columns in mid
– Removed wooden pillars at bottom of mid
– Fixed some player collision bugs

Canals:
– Redesigned T approach to B site through alley, with split entrances
– Improved visibility of players against the scaffolding near A
– Removed ability to stand on top of doorframe at CT stairs to B
– Other minor bug fixes and improvements

Rumor has it:

- /u/Ulmali put together an imgur album of today's Mirage changes, and also noticed that the skybox was opened to allow for throwing smokes between bombsites

- Looks like Valve's aware that we know that Panorama will be Happening® sooner rather than later in CS:GO and is waving a white surrender flag, as not only have numerous leaked strings from the Steam Translation Server made it into csgo_english, there is now also a new directory in the game's VPK structure containing all the map thumbnails in both 1080p and 360p resolution, under "/materials/panorama/images/map_icons/screenshots/"
- Some of you might be asking "wait, what's this Panorama thing everyone's talking about and so excited for?". Panorama is a UI framework developed in-house by Valve, which borrows concepts from both CSS and HTML. CS:GO currently uses Scaleform (another UI framework, developed by Autodesk), while both Steam's Big Picture Mode and Dota 2 use Panorama. Panorama is expected to bring many little quality of life improvements like eliminating microstutter between menus. You can read all about Panorama on the Valve Developer Wiki

#14 TF2 update for 6/7/18 in TF2 General Discussion
mastercomsThey also added some GDPR stuff to the protocol and added more rate limits internally (to prevent DoS attacks).

Yup, those likely-because-of-GDPR protobufs that were present in Dota 2 and Portal 2 (added minutes apart from each other, mind you) have made an appearance here too.

#1 TF2 update for 6/7/18 in TF2 General Discussion

Via the new HLDS:

Valve- Several fixes to address exploits and stability issues
- Fixed server crash related to the CTriggerAddTFPlayerCondition map entity
- Fixed client crash when playing Mann vs. Machine
- Fixed client crash on exit
- Fixed Scouts not being able to pick-up the Sandman's baseball
- Fixed broken Unusual effects for the Exquisite Rack, the Stainless Pot, and the Universal Translator
- Fixed broken Strange Filter store images for Brimstone, Maple Ridge Event, and Pit of Death
- Updated r_screenoverlay command to accept '0' as well as 'off' to disable overlays. This fixes some community mods that were incorrectly expecting 0 to disable the overlay, resulting in unexpected behavior.
- Added "Reset All Achievements" button to the Achievements dialog
- A small number of achievements are based on player stats and will be awarded again when Team Fortress 2 is restarted unless the player stats are also reset
- Resetting achievements will not allow you to receive achievement-based items multiple times
- Players who consistently demonstrate a pattern of negative behavior in-game (based upon excessive reports from other players and several other factors) will now receive a temporary matchmaking ban
- Added RGL.gg tournament medals
- Added Copenhagen Games tournament medals
- Added PURE League tournament medals
- Added Beginnings 5 tournament medals
- Added ozfortress Season 22 tournament medals

Rumor has it:

- Wait, what, the new HLDS? If you missed the email Valve sent you, they've tossed out their self-hosted GNU Mailman box that the HLDS mailing list (and its derivatives) was on, in favor of a cloud provider (Simplelists). If you were previously a subscriber to the old list, you must resubscribe to HLDS to continue getting messages
- If you tried to sign up in the first hour or so but weren't able to due to subscription limits, you should be able to try again successfully
- Several mailing lists which were mostly inactive were also discarded as part of the switch to Simplelists

- GC protobufs likely related to EU GDPR having taken effect have now made an appearance in TF2. These identical protobufs were added in a Portal 2 update from a couple weeks ago and a Dota 2 update that happened just moments before that Portal 2 update, though a couple of them aren't present in TF2

- In addition to a few protobufs and the medals, a typo in The Ornament Armament's description was taken care of

#1 CS:GO update for 5/21/18 (1.36.3.6) in CS2 General Discussion

Via the CS:GO blog:

Valve[MISC]
– Bomb logic now runs every tick when it is close to exploding or being defused, addressing some rare cases where an extremely close defuse would still result in the bomb exploding.
– If a bomb would both explode and be defused at the same exact time, it will now be considered defused.
– Prime accounts will now receive a warning in a Competitive lobby when they enter matchmaking with other Prime accounts whose Trust Factor may impact their matchmaking experience.

[GAMEPLAY]
– General adjustments to ambient sounds:
— Increased resolution and character of reverb effects to better reflect surrounding map geometry
— Small mix adjustments
– Improved vent destruction sounds and increased audible distance.
– Added a new hitbox type for necks and applied it to the existing neck hitbox on character models. Bullets that penetrate the neck into the head will now count as headshots. This should make it more intuitive to tell when an attack from behind will result in a headshot.
– Fixed ‘use’ key to more reliably pick up weapons on the ground and to not drop the active weapon if a replacement weapon cannot be picked up.

[MAPS]
Nuke:
– Optimizations for low settings
– Blocked visibility between silos inside A site
– Ported over ShortNuke gameplay changes:
– Removed Toxic
– Vent no longer connects directly to B site, but has another exit close to double doors
– Pushed new corner boxes on B site further back to prevent headshot angle towards ramp
– Added solid background to yellow crane inside B site
– Smoothed out some player movement

Overpass:
– Lowered volume of ambient sounds in Overpass
– Added grenade and player collision to fence cage near construction
– Removed spooky shadow fading in when approaching T main entrance to B site

Rumor has it:

- /u/kkthxbye- says that several exploitable cvars are now protected by sv_cheats after a bug report to Valve

- Wondering "what is this Trust Factor thing"? You can read about The Trust Factor system and how it works on the CS:GO website

- The warnings for lower trust factors read as follows ("%s1" being the player in your party with the lower trust):
- For a slight impact: "Your matchmaking experience may be slightly impacted because the Trust Factor of %s1 is lower than yours."
- For a significant impact: "Your matchmaking experience will be significantly affected because the Trust Factor of %s1 is substantially lower than yours."
- And at the end of each: "CS:GO's matchmaking will prioritize finding opponents with a similar substantially lower Trust Factor."
- It'll appear as a red warning notice in chat just like if someone was responsible for being that 10th player to not click ready (screenshot courtesy of /u/master117jogi)

- Remember MaxReiger's leak of an unreleased "survival_island" map? It seems that the soundscape file for it has been added to the manifests file in today's update, but it's entirely possible that it may disappear in the next update or be left otherwise untouched for a long while

- You can view the script changes for the various sound changes and everything else over here - but as DavidWValve said a few days ago, use caution when attempting to infer anything through these config files

- If you're intending on reporting issues, particularly issues with game performance, and you happen to be on Windows 10, please make mention of whether or not you're on Redstone 4/the "April 2018 Update" as not all issues may be caused by this update itself (or the previous one), but by Redstone 4
- Unsure of whether or not you're on Redstone 4? Search for "winver", and if "OS Version" is 1803, you're on Redstone 4. Otherwise, if it says 1709, you're still on Redstone 3
- I'll leave this notice out by mid-June as most Redstone 4-related issues should have been ironed out by then, either by Microsoft or by you

#1 CS:GO update for 5/4/18 (1.36.3.4) in CS2 General Discussion

Via the CS:GO blog:

Valve[ MISC ]
– Fixed stability issue for physics collision detection against displacement surfaces.
– Fixed some situations in which stickers would not appear properly on weapons in-game.
– Fixed an issue where MP3’s embedded in maps wouldn’t work. (Thanks to Steam user MajesticCatDog for help in diagnosing this issue).
– Removed legacy audio cache commands.

[ SDK ]
– When loading the map in development mode with “developer 1” enabled, engine will display DISP_VPHYSICS warnings for displacements with degenerate collision faces. When such displacement faces are encountered, the entire displacement object will have no collision in-game. Additional clip brushes or adjustments to such displacements may be added by map authors in these cases.

Rumor has it:

- /u/vMcJohn provided a little more detail on the physics stability issue that got fixed

- The "snd_disable_legacy_audio_cache" command and other legacy commands have been removed as no widespread issues were reported with streaming audio being made the default in the 4/30/18 (5/1/18 UTC) update

- Size is ~5 MB + ~430 KB (for the SDK)

#1 CS:GO update for 4/30/18 (5/1/18 UTC, 1.36.3.3) in CS2 General Discussion

Via the CS:GO blog:

Valve[AUDIO]
– Enabled streaming audio by default, making use of the ‘sound cache’ unnecessary. The sound cache can be forced back on by setting snd_disable_legacy_audio_cache 0 if any issues are found.
– Weapon reload sounds now follow the reloading players as they move around.
– Fixed sound device override exploit to cancel sounds.

[GAMEPLAY]
– Replaced custom Terrorist one-handed walking animations for the MAC10, MP7, and MP9 with an alternative two-handed version to improve weapon recognition at a glance.

[MAPS]
ShortNuke:
-Added more spawn points per side
-Fixed model occlusion bug inside vent
-Added solid background to top of yellow crane inside site

Rumor has it:

- And now, a word from /u/vMcJohn on server crashing exploits.
- In addition, another exploit that surfaced in the wild has been fixed

- Itching to know why the MAC-10, MP7, and MP9 sometimes looked like a knife for the longest time? Check out this gallery by /u/-ZooL-

- Although you'll see a few protobuf changes for the above audio changes, the rest of it is localization made possible in part by contributions from Translators Like You - Thank You: https://github.com/SteamDatabase/GameTracking-CSGO/commit/cc7a69f656ed16575001de681142611124ba6947

#9 TF2 update for 4/26/18 in TF2 General Discussion
DarkNecrid - Fixed players not being able to push the payload cart on some maps
Wondering if this fixed the long standing physics issue with the cart where it could occasionally in certain areas get knocked off the tracks and break the round.

Doubt it.

#1 TF2 update for 4/26/18 in TF2 General Discussion

Via HLDS:

Valve- Fixed players not being able to push the payload cart on some maps
- Fixed a client crash related to the main menu
- Fixed a client crash when exiting the game
- Fixed not being able to pickup item_bonuspack entities that have not been assigned to a specific team
- Added self-damage when using the Short Circuit's orb to attack an enemy at close range

- Updated ctf_foundry
- Organized powerup locations to be more consistent with other maps
- Removed the crit powerup in the center of the map
- Fixed the return times for dropped flags

Rumor has it:

- Users of the Steam Web API have noticed that .json versions of the item schema no longer return correctly after both the Steam Community and the Steam store's switch to HTTPS-only, thus breaking various implementations on websites and utilities like SteamTracking and git.optf2.com

- Here's the in-VPK diff
