Cerdurtoads_tfit's gonna be dismissed because it's misleading garbage just like any other argument for pretending to be something youre nothow is it misleading
are you gonna elaborate
seems like it provides, at least, 1, published, paper that explains "pretending to be something you're not" (gender affirmation) has shown to be the most effective way of dealing with gender dysphoria
sources in 6:
1. 404, meaniningless unless evidence is presented anyways.
2. 404 again. doesnt explain WHY trying to fix someone's mental state to fit reality is less ethical than affirming their false belief. (in fact, feeding delusion seems like it would only create more harm than good when patients are confronted with the fact that they are not indeed what they thought they were) the studies given are all very old studies from a time period where it was believed that faux sex reassignment was the only solution and were essentially the first studies done on the subject of behavioral reassignment. since then, studies (works of barlow, rekers, etc in the 70s) have provided successful cases of behavioral or similar non-operation solutions. though i cant tell because of the 404, either way what WPATH says seems to be grounded only in preliminary studies and is therefore being used misleadingly
3. bases its claim off of information it makes up. it says therapy like this is wrong because we believe that it's the patient's right to keep their identity. it also lumps two unlike things together as well, that being sexual orientation and what gender someone thinks they are. again, misleading.
4. has nothing to do with "gender identity," yet is used to discuss it. it has to do with sexuality conversion therapy, which is completely different as it's not dealing with a delusional disorder, or probably even a disorder at all. VERY misleading
5. same as 4
6. incredible grasping at straws, doesn't mention transgenders at all and is therefore completely different and mostly irrelevant. regardless, a religious approach to conversion is unlikely to have any impact if some kind of conversion therapy is the best case anyways.
e: i dont think i should have to say this but anyways ill throw in that i bear no ill will towards trans people or people suffering gender dysphoria or whatever it may be. i believe that certain treatments for the problem are not the best course of action
