Pubs and strategy don't mix. It's also not really practice because even in highlander teams don't consist of 12 players who are all on pyro and engineer.

I always used headsets in the past. Used plantronics for many years, and then I got a Razer carcharias. I honestly have to say, the carcharias was decent and I still use it for LANs but last year I picked up the audio technica AD-700s on sale and the sound quality blew me away.

The color scheme was horrible (pink/gold) so I decided to mod them. Matte black paint job, rewired it with a better 3.5mm plug, added a modmic and sleeved the cables together. Best headphones/headset I've ever had hands down. Gaming headsets aren't terrible, but their construction isn't the best usually. They tend to die or break quickly and easily.

Also, be nice to your parents, don't fight with them right now because it won't solve anything. Take the punishment. TF2 has been going strong since 2007, it's not going anywhere. Do better on a few tests and then ask your parents to give you another chance. If they do, prove you can balance both.

There's enough time to study and play. Let me tell you a little story about me, and how I dealt with a similar type of situation when I was in high school.

I should mention before hand for those of you who don't know me... I'm 32. I may use some terms you are unfamiliar with like "dial up", and "land line". You have been warned.

The summer before I started high school I went to my friend marks house. Back then it was fairly uncommon to have a home PC. Mark had one and he said "you gotta see this" and then he showed me Doom. Now I had played wolfenstein at my cousins before but doom blew my mind. I had to have it. I went home... "Mom, Dad... I need a computer... For school!"

A week later we had one, and we used one of those AOL free hours discs and connected our blazing fast 14.4 modem to the phone line. I used my allowance to buy Doom, Doom 2, and Quake. My friend and I discovered a brand new mod for quake called Team Fortress and we began to play competitively. I was hooked. I wasn't allowed on the Internet until 6pm tho because my dad runs a business out of the house, and our dial up connection tied up the phone. We didn't practice or anything until around 7 tho so I studied and did all my homework from the time I got home until the time I could get online. I also actually used study hall to study.

Even tho I was hardcore addicted to games I was able to balance games and school. My grades never suffered at all. You can make it happen. Just spend a little less time in MGE and spend more time studying.

Seeing how they have been changing some of the story arcs from the books lately I really wonder how close they will stay to the books for the trial by combat.
