capnfapnI haven't seen the movie yet, but to me superman has always been kind of a boring superhero. He's just too stronk and op. nerf superman and he'll be more interesting imo.
you don't get the point of his character then. superman struggles with being alone on a planet that he feels it's his duty to protect

Ever since one of the last updates when i try to load a jump map offline the map will load but i can't move and if i hold fire it gets stuck in the first couple frames of the firing animation. Validating didn't help. Newly downloaded maps don't work either.

The point is that games like SC2, DotA2 and LoL have a consistently high viewer count, and if TF2 is ever on the front page of twitch it's only because a major tournament like ESEA LAN is on there. On the other hand, almost every player from EG on SC2 and DotA2 (I don't watch much LoL streams but I know the solomid guys get more views than both of them combined almost) get thousands of viewers just from them playing matchmaking.

Speaking of camera angles, I kind of have a basic question about that.
How do you get like, a 'still' angle? (Such as the one at 2:18 in the video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=a6lW5NpBdGE#t=138s)
I know it's achievable with an STV demo, but is it possible with a POV demo? I'm not familiar with smoothing or anything of the sort at all.

narfThose examples just show how horribly incorrect assumptions we make of people can be, or how there is no capital T Truth in our supposed knowledge, as DFW may put it.
Also, discrediting someone's work due to a mental illness is seriously fucked up and is probably the type of thing this speech aims to steer people away from.
Chiiiiiiiiiillllllllll, I didn't discredit his work at all. Mental illness is all about connotative dissonance and twisted, for lack of a better word, logic. I think it's fucked up that it has to be a catastrophe. Anyone who's ever dealt with mental illness knows how much it fucks up your thought process

That's not really the point he's trying to make though. The point is when you view yourself as something apart from the rest of humanity and make assumptions about other people based on the little information you have about them, you often make life more miserable for them and yourself and perpetuate some kind of ignorance/hate/bigotry/uneducatedness that an educated individual shouldn't. You should use your education to consider the other person, not yourself. That's what I got out of it anyway.
yeah i got it. but it's still stupid. if the only way you can be empathetic is by imagining that someone's mom has cancer or is an orphan or that something catastrophic has happened to them then something is seriously fucked up in your head. i think it's much more humanitarian to be empathetic of banal normal things that cause people to act the way they do as opposed to this nonsense. it's a good concept but it's all warped and twisted the way he framed it. and he was fucked in the head so that explains a lot
