and i think you could get 60+ fps constant like that.

i record with the same settings
the editing program i use compresses clips i import, i still get a lot of buffering
i dont go back and render the clip with different settings, i dont see a reason to, unless you want to use as little space as possible

TekkWill I get more fps with dx level 8, or with dx 9 and mat_phong 0?
i think it depends on your graphics card, some people get more fps in dx9, others in dx8. mat_phong isnt supported in dx8, though. i would try using both, seeing what dxlevel gives you better fps.
