VaskieAre there any specific reasons why we Gravel Pit (even if a new version) are going to be played (play-tested really) on such a big event ? Doesn't make much sense in my head.
One of the admins of the tournament has a conflict of interest and wants to put his own version of Gravelpit in. In this version of Gravelpit, he haphazardly tweaks the timings in an attempt to fix the issues of the map. These fixes are based on an incorrect conclusion from the gameplay of an entirely different era, with a completely different whitelist. So in the end these supposed fixes will fall short because it didn't solve any of the underlying problems of the map, just swept them under the rug to postpone the map's inevitable rejection by the community.
So in an attempt to stifle the voice of the players and further postpone the inevitable death of this iteration of Gravelpit, this tournament admin will apparently shoehorn his untested beta version of the map in the tournament, and force the teams to playtest it in a LAN environment where thousand of dollars are at play. All this is done under the pretense that the map will be amazing to spectate because of offclasses, but given the previously mentioned conflict of interest, it is questionable at best whether this is his genuine motive.
